Anyone know how long the two different monorail routes to Epcot take? As in: ride Poly monorail around to TTC, then change monorails and ride to Epcot vs. walk to TTC and then board monorail to Ecpot.

Obviously it depends on which longhouse you would be starting from (we're hoping to stay in Fiji, farthest from TTC), but I'm just looking for a general estimate.

(We always walked to TTC on our first trip, but I've been thinking that it might be fun to ride the loop first, as we're going with first-timers and I'm planning our very first evening...so it would be like a quick little tour...but we might also be under a time crunch to make it to our first ADR in Epcot. I'd just like to know how much time riding the loop might take, so I can make a last-minute decision about which travel plan to use!)

Thanks!!!! :goodvibes

It could take 10 to 15 mins to get from the Poly to TTC and the same from the TTC to Epcot. And thats if you walk up as the monorail pulls up and there are no major delays.

I've never directly timed it since we normally walk through the resort to the TTC and catch the direct to Epcot.

In my opinion no matter what Longhouse you happen to get, I say it's faster to walk over to the TTC.

If you wanted to take the Resort Monorail from the Polynesian to the TTC you need to account it stoping at the Grand Floridian, Magic Kingdom and Contemporary before it arrives at the TTC. Plus you never know when WDW might have another problem with their Monorail system.

Thank you, and yes, I agree: I am sure that it is longer to take the resort monorail. I probably wasn't as clear as I could have been. I would only do it once, on our first day, as a way to give the first-timers with whom we are traveling a quick mini-tour of the MK area, on our way to Epcot on our arrival day. I'm just wondering how much additional time this mini-tour, using the resort monorail loop, would add to our travel time from the Poly to Epcot...

In other words, how much more time would it likely take, if we were to ride the resort loop around to the TTC rather than walking there first...

Is that more clear?

If I remember correctly, the resort monorail loop from the Poly to the TTC takes 10-12 minutes once you get going. We stayed at the Niue long house, so our walk to the TTC was 4min. If you stayed at the Fiji longhouse, probably 6 min walk to the TTC, so you are spending about 4-6 minutes more to take the monorail to the TTC, than walking to the TTC.

It would be fun for 1st timers to take the resort monorail to get a mini-tour of the area. We like sitting on the monorail, to us it doesn't seem like transportation, like a bus. It's just more fun!

The walk to the TTC from the furthest spot at the Poly is 7-8 minutes, I have measured it with a GPS. Count on the 4 stops to the TTC taking a minimum of 15 minutes and there can frequently be delays.

Given you have to go upstairs in the GHC to get the monorail travel time to the monorail is only about 2 minutes longer to walk to the TTC from the west side and you are adding time to that from the east side to the GHC.

Bottom line, you will be adding nearly the 15 minutes by riding the loop.
