Do the buses run that early? The park doesn't open until 9am, but our ressie is for 8am at Donald's Breakfastosaurus. Can someone tell me how we should plan to get to AK so early & how much time to allow? This will be in June, if that makes a difference.

Thanks!!

THere should be a bus running. Ask the morning you check in about the breakfast bus to the parks. I have never had a problem getting a bus for an early breakfast.

The busses to the AK area breakfasts and tours start around 7AM. Be out at the Polynesian bus stop 45-50 minutes before your ADR (just in case the bus just left and you have to wait 15-20 minutes for the next one).

You can also get bell services to order you a taxi. I can't remember how much it is, but I know it isn't bad.

For an 8:00 ADR I would be at your bus stop at 7:00ish. When you get to AK you will find there is one turnstyle over to the side, usually the right side, that is open for those with early ADRs or tours. They will check off your name which they will have on their list. Then, just head to Donald's for breakfast. It should take about 8-10 mins to get there. The nice thing is that if you take less than an hour to eat, you will be right there, at DinoLand, at park opening. You will be held at the rope but at 9:00 you can make the dash to EE and be one of the first to be there. At least that was how it worked for us in Jan!!

I've read reports not to go by car (or taxi) as only buses are allowed in early.:confused3

We were there in Dec at the WL and had 8 am at Donalds. We were at the bus stop at 7 am and the bus did not get there until 7:45...we were late for our breakfast but they still sat us within 5 minutes, we explained about the buses and the CM said it happens all the time.

Next time I will just take a cab

I like the idea of a taxi...I've also heard that Mears runs taxi-like cars for not much more than a taxi that will wait for you (a taxi can be "stolen" by someone else if you aren't there when it arrives)...I would be willing to do that because it would mean we could leave the hotel a little later, but can anyone confirm wether or not taxis are allowed into the parks that early?

I wouldn't worry about a taxi being taken by someone else. Cabs are readily available at the Polynesian. There are often one or more just waiting for a fare.

If no one with recent experience can address the "buses only" issue here, try asking on the Transportation forum. There is a bus driver and a former one on that board.

how long is a taxi ride from WL to Poly?

What is the best Disney Transportation method from WL to Poly?

We had an 8:00a ADR at AK last October and the park opened at 9:00a.

We drove. We got to the gate at about 7:45a and had to wait about 5 - 10 minutes for the guy to open up the gate.

Everyone was in the same boat though; the park doesn't open till right at 8:00a anyway. It didn't affect our ADR meal at all.

We were done eating before 9:00a and were the first ones to EE that morning!

We were at the Poly 7/06 trying to get to AK for rope drop. We were meeting friends at the entrance. Knowing this could take a while, we were at the bus stop by 7:15. We waited until after 8:00 for an AK bus and the ride took a while. Our friends were a little upset that we were late. :guilty:

I never thought of taking a cab until reading it on the DIS! dope :rolleyes1
I think it would be well worth the $10-15 a cab would cost to make your ADR.

The taxi ride would be very short...perhaps a mile.

The fastest way by WDW transportation would be to take the WL bus to the MK and then transfer to the resort monorail, small launch or big ferry. The ferry goes to the TTC and then you would need to make the short walk to the Polynesian but if your timing is just right, this is a fast way to do it too.

BlondeAlligator, sounds like the taxi will work for you based on Beatty family's experience.:thumbsup2
