I see a lot of folks are staying at the Poly this fall for the first time - including me!

Seeing there a lot of Poly vets on here - what are some tips + tricks of the Poly resort or stuff to keep in mind - minus the construction! We all know construction is going on so lets leave that off the list, haha.

I appreciate it! :)

For transportation to Epcot, many prefer the short walk the TTC where there is a direct monorail to Epcot. If you ride the resort monorail from the GCH, you will stop at GF, MK, CR, and finally at TTC.
Enjoy the Poly pool and beach area. If you have young children, the new kids splash area is great.
Great view of the fireworks across the lake.
We really enjoyed the live entertainment at the Trader Sam's Tiki Terrace (outside area).

We just stayed there and were given a room (3415) in Tuvalu, next to the marina. Ours was a standard view room so was facing the marina and the GCH/TraderSam's/Main Pool.
If you're on that side of the resort it would make a lot more sense to use the resort launch to go to MK as you can walk around the edge of the marina to the dock where the launch goes from.
The standard rooms have fridges large enough to hold larger cartons of milk/juice, six packs of beer, soft drinks, etc. The safe is a half-decent size too.
Captain Cook's is a nice counter service food option but it's small and the space for lining up to pay and collecting food orders is shared and gets crowded easily.
The pool is very nice, although it felt a little cold to us. The children's pool play area is fantastic. Pool towels are plentiful. The pool restrooms can get a little icky on the floor pretty fast through the day so don't go in in bare feet! We took pool shoes which we were able to wear in the water and also meant we could walk on the hot ground around the pool.
Go to the pool early if you want a shaded area.
If it rains when you are going to or from your room you are likely to get wet quickly, depending on how far you are from the GCH.
We were near to the beach where the luau is held but never heard the noise from it once when we were in our room. Rooms nearer to it might be different though.
The lights in the room were all individually controlled which was a pain at night as we had to go round turning them all off one by one. On the plus side the lights above the beds dim to a nice low level.
Having packages delivered or collected was not a problem.

We have a theme park room, and from what I've read that will put us in Tuvalu. It looks so far away from everything, but I have been reading a lot of people say it is not as far as it looks. Were you happy in that building?

Very happy. It really wasn't far from the GCH and pool. There's a gate on the marina side of the pool to get access with your magic band and you walk in right by the children's pool play area. Noise wasn't a problem. You'd want to be on the third floor, I'd think, for a good view of the theme park or you may find the island in the middle of Bay Lake will obscure at least part of the view to MK. Someone with knowledge of the views on that side of the building may come along with better advice though.

We were right at the end on the top (third floor) in the room nearest to the marina. Even then it was a 10 second walk down the hall to the elevator. Also there were stairs outside at our end of the corridor so we could walk down very easily.

I'd estimate it took me and the family walking together no more than 5 minutes to reach the monorail in the GCH if the elevator wait time was minimal. I could have walked myself in about a minute less. I also walked to the guest laundry a couple of times (next to Lilo's Playhouse) and that took perhaps 7 or 8 minutes at most, pushing my son in his stroller at the same time.

Tip 1: understand that the Poly is not a large resort, it is actually kind of small. The walk from one side to the other (east - west) 5-7 minutes and to the GCH to anywher is 3-5 minutes. So plan to walk and enjoy the beautiful grounds.

Tip 2: Use the resort launch to go to MK. It goes directly from the Poly and you are on the water about 5 minutes. The return stops at GF and takes about 10 minutes. Nice way to get around.

Tip 3: there is a very nice walk around the lagoon to the Wedding Pavillion and GF that starts at Luau Cove and takes 10-15 minutes.

Tip 4: as others say walk to the TTC to take the Epcot monorail. It will save at least 15 minutes and is a 5-7 minute walk.

Tip 5: if driving to the Poly, use Bonnet Creek parkway to Vista drive and head west. It will take you to Seven Seax Drive and completely bypass the MK parking plaza and associated traffic.

Important note: all walking times will be low estimates because you'll be spending so much time looking at the beautiful grounds on the way. But you can do it you stay focused on the goal of the walk.
