Poly Suite Concierge - Ever Discount?

We have 2 connecting LVC rooms booked at Poly for May, 2005. I really wanted a 1 BR suite which is cheaper rack rate than the 2 rooms. Do the discounts ever apply to concierge suites at Poly?

Also, looks like the LVC will be in Hawaii which would be awesome. I hope we get a patio room. But the suites are in Tonga - no lagoon/beach. I think the convenience and view from the LV will be great, especially for my kids who will be 3 & 5 at that time.

So I'm secretely hoping that the suites do not discount and I can feel better about spending so much $$$$$! Anyone know?

Any tips on how to get a patio room, other than request one?

Here's the 2005 rack rates:

Room Type Value Regular Peak Holiday Pre-Holiday

Standard
Garden View $410 $455 $530 $595 n/a
Lagoon View $510 $580 $645 $720 n/a

Suites
1 BR Suite $510 $580 $645 $720 n/a
1 BR Suite $700 $805 $895 $1000 n/a
2 BR Suite $1232 $1340 $1510 $1690 n/a
2 BR Suite $1380 $1500 $1660 $1845 n/a

I'm not sure what the difference is between the 2 1 BR's but either are less than 2*GVC or LVC.

The first one you have listed as 1 BR Suite $510$580 $645 $720 n/a is actually called Concierge Suite and it is a single room that is slightly smaller than the rooms in Hawaii. It is used as an addon room to the King Kamehameha suite and sometimes sold by itself but is not a 1 bedroom suite.

The more expensive one bedroom suite is the Princess suite and it sleeps 6 adults (two queens and two day beds) so two rooms in Hawaii would sleep more people. You would just have more room in the suite.

Ditto everything tikiman said.

We stayed at the Tonga in the 2 bedroom Princess suite in June.
Loved it!
But, they will be renovating these suites starting January 9th thru April.
Can not say if anyone can book for May yet.

As for discounts, the only room discounted in the Tonga building is the 1 room that tikiman described.
They never have to discount these rooms because they are ALWAYS FULL!::yes::
Plus, after the new rehab, they will be some of WDW's finest suites on property!:sunny:

And I will pay full rack rate to stay there, no doubt!

OHHHHHH!! That really helps. The less expensive 1 br suite would not work then because I need a separate bedroom so I don't have to go to bed at 8 or 9pm when my little ones need it. Sounds like we would need the Princess. But since they don't discount, I'll just hope for codes on my LVC and be happy, happy, happy with the lagoon view! :sunny:

I checked for every week in May for the suites and nothing was available. I wonder if they are not booking May as well because of refurbs. They may be waiting until the schedule is more definitive and know that they are on-time.

For our July trip, I was offered a discount on a suite at the Polynesian. I don't remember now if I was trying to get AP or CM rate at that point but that was the only discounted room available on the day I called.

So if anyone really wants a suite, never say never!::yes::

No, I was told by Disney that they NEVER discount suites. No discount applies to a suite--not AAA, not anything.

(However, I have heard from some people who were upgraded to suites due to problems with their rooms, or were just surprised at check-in to be put in a suite when they booked a regular room.)

Hi,
How did you get a concierge room for may. I've been trying for the last 2 months. I've been told over and over that they are sold out. Did you book a while back?

We were offered a discounted rate for a suite if we wanted to switch when we were there in 2002 but it was not going to be available the whole stay so we did not move.

The concierge and suites are booked next year because many of the Disney Executives are staying there for the anniversary celebration. This is what the Polynesian told me.

Laurie, I just called this past Sat and booked LVC (2 rooms) for May '05.

If the execs are taking up the rooms... looks like I better be very prepared for no discounts. I did book w/AAA at least.

DisneyDW,
Yuck! Thats not what I want to hear. I'm counting on AP discounts to be able to stay. After reading your post I called and One LVC room was avail. I booked it. I do hope discounts are avail. Thank you.

I think the confusion stems from the CMs who keep "offering" suites when people call for the codes and AP rates. Apparently, when they look for the codes/AP rates, suites come up on their screens. However, when you get the quotes, you will see that the price they are offering you is the rack rate for that time period. No discount. I almost got sucked in with that too! LOL

When the CMs pull up the screen for my dates, all they have available are suites at various deluxe resorts. I would probably book one if it was actually discounted. We love the Hawaii building so much though, it would be hard to be in another building. One of these days we will try it though.
