Our family of 5 (including an 11, 8 and 6 year old) is planning our first Disney trip ever in late August...We are so excited!! We are staying at the Poly and have requested a garden view room. We like to swim, but expect alot of time will be spent at the parks. One child has asthma and the other has allergies, so no smoking is a must. What should I request? Does anyone have pictures of the new Samoa renovation?

Thanks for your help!!

We just stayed last wknd at the Poly in the Tokelau building GV and it was very nice! Very close to the quiet pool and close proximity to the ttc by walkway. It was non-smoking as well. I think the room # was 3926. The main Volcano pool wasn't a far walk either but the quiet pool was right outside the building.

Have a great time!;)

Marymouse,

Your first trip to WDW or your first trip to WDW in late August?

We took our first family trip to WDW in '91, stayed at the Poly and have been back to the Poly 14 times. I think you'll love it, but then again I'm biased.

I don't recall seeing any pictures of the refurbished Samoa but Steve Seifert has a great Polynesian page:

Deb Wills has lots of photos of the Poly: http://wdwig.com/g_poly.htm

Enjoy your trip, let us know how it goes. We're doing 4 nights LV at the Poly and 5 nights WV at BWI on Nov. 7.

Tikiman has a great Poly website. Does anyone know the link? We stayed their in Dec '01 and will be there again this coming Feb.

I am hoping we can stay in the same general location as last time. It was a garden view room that overlooked the quiet pool. The building was close to the laundry room and neverland club. Does anyone know what building that is?

Samoa is reportedly non smoking since the renovation and it is a GREAT location. Close to both pools, the Grand Ceremonial House and the pier. The room decor is the same as before apparently.

PiperG, it sounds like you were in Tokelau.

Last November my mom and I stayed in the Tokelau longhouse and loved it! I'm 14 and really had a great time at the Polynesian resort, so I'm sure your kids will love it too. As previous posters have mentioned, Tikiman's website will give you all the information you could possibly need, but I think that of the longhouses with garden view rooms, Tokelau would be your best bet in terms of having a good view. My mom and I received a lagoon view of the Contemporary Resort, TTC, and castle despite the fact that it was a garden view room. We had a patio, so we could just walk out onto the beach a few feet away. In addition, the rooms are slightly larger in that longhouse and I believe have been redone fairly recently. If I'm correct, it is nonsmoking as well. Regardless of what you choose, have a fun time.

Thank you to all who responded. I

This will actually be our first trip...EVER...the summer has been going so fast already. Our trip will be here before you know it.

I will check out the websites mentioned...Any and all help is appreciated!!

Thanks

You're going to love staying at the Polynesian, it's a great choice.

Make sure to try out the Volcano pool, see the lighting ceremony for the tiki torches and enjoy the Water Pagent Parade in the lagoon at night.

We'll be back there at the end of July and can't wait for it to come.

Have a great trip!

Marymouse961, WELCOME.

This is a great board and you will get some insightful information here about anything Disney.

My favorite resort is the Polynesian and I think you will love it. Being right on the monorail will be great and so convenient. Enjoy!
