Poly split stay quandary!

I have reservations at Poly with free dining from 11/15 to 11/23. Our plans have changed a little and now we want to stay until 11/24. I called to try to extend our stay at Poly and there's nothing available with FD! I could extend without free dining for that extra night, but now I'm wondering about splitting on 11/22-24 to either POR or AoA Cars. POR would be less but my kids would undeniably go nuts for AoA. We have only gone once as a family and stayed at Pop...splurging this time because it is our 15th anniversary . I have read some about split stays but am conflicted...any suggestions???

If it was me, I would just extend my stay at Poly for the extra day without Free Dining.
After spending 8 days at the Poly lovestruc), I wouldn't want to end my vacation by packing everything up and heading to another resort for 1 night.

Split stays are easy as Disney will transfer your luggage from one resort to the other. With that said, I agree with the pp that I wouldn't want to stay 8 nights at the Poly and then go to a value or mod for the last 2 nights. If it were me, I'd add the extra night at the Poly without free dining and have the two reservations linked together. I would also put in a request to keep the same room since it's 2 separate reservations. Good luck.

I would do the split stay. Disney makes it super easy to transfer and your kids would probably LOVE AoA. Also, how cool to have a couple of days at a brand new resort.

Maybe I'm confused. Are you hoping to do the split stay so you qualify for free dining at the second hotel as well? If you do that won't you need to purchase another set of park tickets associated with that stay? (Free dining requires the hotel purchase and the park tickets.) Now maybe they will give you credit for the initial park tickets (but I somehow doubt it) and maybe you will save the second tickets for a future trip (possible). But if you actually have to buy a second set of park tickets and you are going to use them, the "start up" cost of those tickets will eat in to the savings of "free dining."

I won't be able to get free dining for the last day no matter where we stay because the 15th is the last day before the Thanksgiving blackout. But hey, I was happy to get it at all

They haven't come out with room only discounts- maybe you can get that and just stay where you are.

My vote is for staying put, we love the Poly and would just stay there for another night.

I would only extend my stay at Poly without free dining if I got a room discount. Why give up free food for one extra day? I would do the split stay, but I wouldn't go to a moderate on the last day. Why not another deluxe resort thats a little cheaper than Poly? An epcot resort would be my first choice or maybe Akl. Our first trip to WDW. We spent our 9 nights at the Poly and the last night at AKl. It didn't bother me at all going to a smaller room. Akl is a unique experience that you can't find anywhere else. Good luck.

know you called CRO first to see if u could extend your current reservation id call again and if they can't help you ask to speak to their supervisor (forgot what it's called guest relations?) as long as you check in by the last day of free dining it's available your whole trip no need to pay for a room only elsewhere if you don't have to.

What's the point of switching if you can't get free dining at the lesser resorts? I would just extend the Poly reservation the one night. IMO, a split stay isnt worth it for just two nights. I'd rather unpack and leave it than pack everyone up and live out of suitcases for two days. Plus if you want to do mod or value, I think I would rather do that first before Poly.

I just checked this am and there's free dining rooms avail Nov 23-29 but it's lagoon view. Maybe if you were willing/able to switch views for your trip then there would be a room available on the discount for you for Nov 24
