What is that "perfect" fridge setting again?

Thanks :)

5 is the ideal setting according to a technician at the Polynesian. Have a wonderful stay! Aloha!

Wow. Every so often I am amazed at what gets answered on these boards! That's truely something I never would have thought of! Good to know, I hope it's the same over at CSR.

Actually, to make sure your fridge stays really cold, you need to leave the cabinet door open. If you keep the cabinet door closed, the fridge can't expel the heat from the compressor. It may not look as nice to leave the cabinet door open, but it makes a huge difference. Mousekeeping always closed it when they cleaned but we just opened again upon entering the room. It may look nice not to see the fridge in the room decor but a fridge needs air space and lots of air circulation to work properly.

OK...I'll shut up now.....:lmao:

Nope.

Try 5 when you're next there.

We've stayed a number of times since the cabinets and new refrigerators were installed. We have insulin to store and also stock Diet Rite which seems to freeze quite easily. We had tried low/high setting, cabinet door opened, etc. in earlier stays. But when a maintenance/engineering guy was in our room on a recent stay, he told me 5 was the setting to use. He was right. Nothing froze, everything was very cold and we closed the cabinet door.

I've repeated his advice every time I've posted about it since as it worked so perfectly for us.

You're very right!! I should've mentioned that -- thanks for adding, 'cuz it's very important. :thumbsup2

I haven't found one perfect setting. The WDW fridges are like all hotel fridges. Most of them are good and 5 sounds about right to keep things nice and cool.

But some of them are wacky fridges dropped to Earth by aliens who want to freeze all liquid, so a setting of 5 just turns everything to slush. Others come straight from hell and want everything hot, so they won't cool things down set on the highest temp.

If you get a normal fridge, you have no problems. If you get an alien or hell one, you have to play with it.

Have a great trip!

Early on, I tried the cabinet door open as that was the DIS chatter. It helped but wasn't perfect. As I recall, we still had things freeze right above the little hole on the shelf.

Trust me, 5 was like a revelation to us. And this gentleman was likely dealing with problems on a daily basis.

Cool Beans, I hear you especially as the refrigerators age. Short term, I'm relying on 5... cabinet door closed.:thumbsup2
