Hello again! Well, it sounds like all the room rehabs should be done in 2006 if I'm reading right. So, by virtue of location, I think I will be requesting Tokelau. We'll be doing garden view. I think we have decided that the 1st floor will be best for us. I know we'll be sacrificing view, but I think having the extra area to play will be great for the kids. We'll be driving down, so we might even bring some lounge chairs. My son especially just loves to run.

So, are there any areas/side of Tokealu that would be best for a patio room? I mean, not a lot of foot traffic outside the room, opens onto a grassy area where the kids could play, maybe easy access to a path in case one of us wants to walk or go to the beach or pool when the kids are napping?

On Tikiman's site (awesome, bTW!!) 1915 looks GREAT! Is that really a gardenview room? There's such a great lagoon view! And it looks like a nice grassy area in front?

What is the best way to word the request when making the reservation?

Thanks for any help!!

Sandy

ETA: We'll be going April 27 - May 4, 2007 - probably doesn't matter, though.

It is very hard to request a specific room and get that room. A lot of factors have to work for that to happen. I would simply request first floor, Tokelau and hope for the best.

You won't need lounge chairs as each lanai or balcony has two. :thumbsup2

Thank you, LuvChipNDale! And your kids are so cute!

Great about the lounge chairs - one last thing to pack!

Guess I should've been more clear - I have read that requesting a specific room was not a good thing, cause then if they can't do it, they don't really know what you're looking for. Guess I should've said - does Tokelau have good areas like I'm looking for (grassy area, low foot traffic, semi-easy access out)? Is there one side of the longhouse that would be better (as in I've seen others request a building (not sure which one) cove side, for example)? I just happened to see the pic of 1915 and was wondering if that area is good, wouldn't request that specific room. Or is there another longhouse we should consider for what we're looking for?

Just wanted to clarify and wonder what the best way to word the request is? Of course, understanding it's just a request, no guarantee in any way!!

Sandy

Tokelau is a great building. Very large rooms and it has a nice location. It is also a very large longhouse so you have a good chance of getting your request.

Best I can recall, all the rooms have grass or a combination of grass and foliage outside the rooms. Paths are close as well but not too close.

Basically one side faces the quiet pool and the other side faces a huge and beautiful courtyard. The courtyard side is probably more quiet but neither side would be too noisy. The side that faces the pool has pretty views as well and the pool is landscaped so that increases the sense of privacy.

Hope that helps a little.

Thanks! That's a big help! Sounds like the courtyard side would be just great if we'd be lucky enough to get it! When we travel we usually get a suite-type room with at least 1 separate bedroom. That's what we have this summer in myrtle beach for example. Makes naps/bedtime easier and also gives us a bit more space. But, we really wanted a monorail resort, the Poly seems great and anything more than a GV room is out of the question. I'm a tad nervous about all 4 of us being in 1 room for 7 days/nights, LOL! So, any extra space we can gain would be great! As I said, we'll be driving down, so we can even bring some toys the kids can play with out on the lanai (that's what they call the patios, right?)

Thanks for all the help!

Sandy
