Quick question. Our family (Two adults and 10 year old son) are going to Poly
for "jersey week for 8 nights.

We are booked for a "garden view" room but we really want a "Lagoon" view room. We should be able to afford the lagoon view, but wanted to leave a cushion for ourselves, so we booked the garden view.

My question is this:

Should we keep the garden room and as the date gets closer, and we see that money will not be an issue, switch to the "lagoon" view room, or book the "lagoon" view and hope there is a "garden view" if things happen not to work out financially?

Not sure which category books first at the Poly

Thanks

My advice would be to decide sooner than later. Not knowing the dates, the resort could fill up, and you'll be stuck. However, I would be inclined to think that with three people, youre chances would be better at switching than with more people..
If it were me, I would decide now, if the view is worth the price and go from there.
We are staying at the polynesian for most of our stay, and we decided that there is so much to see already, why should we pay to see more. As another poster put it, "if Im worried about what I see from INSIDE the room, I should be OUTSIDE the room."
curious to see what others say..popcorn::

I don't know which category books first. I am certain that there are many fewer lagoon view rooms than garden though.

However, the garden views are truly beautiful. And the way the Polynesian is designed no room is far from one of the three beaches so it is very easy to walk out to enjoy the Electrical Water Pageant, Wishes or simply the beach.

We've stayed at the Polynesian over 30 times. My order of preference considering view, location, convenience and expense is: lagoonview concierge, plain old gardenview, gardenview concierge and lastly lagoon view.

Since you're not sure of finances, why not keep gardenview? If you decide to switch later, you might have luck. If not, you'll have some extra $$$ for nice meals, activities or souvenirs. Or you can bank it and start saving for your next trip!

BTW, I don't understand how part size could affect switching.:confused3 All rooms at the Polynesian have an occupancy of 5 (plus one under three in a crib).

In the deluxes we have stayed in, you are allowed to have 5 in the room (plus one in a crib) but not every room in the hotel had the daybed in it. Without that, there is nowhere for your 5th person to sleep. Even though it should be obvious to the hotel if you make a reservation for 5, I recommend requesting the daybed when you make the reservation. We have always been given a room with a daybed when we asked for and needed one, but when we dont ask it's been about a 50/50 chance.

I would suspect the Poly works the same way, but maybe not. Cant hurt to request it, though, since you need it.

mmmears- I believe all the rooms at the Poly have the day bed. At least we've never stayed in, or seen one that didn't have one.

Right, all rooms (with the exception of those in the all suite building, Tonga) at the Polynesian have a daybed. Same is true at the CR I believe.
