We are staying at the Poly in early August. I recently read a slew of bad reviews about the Polynesian and now I am concerned. Anyone been there recently? How was it?

I don't know what the context of the "slew of bad reviews" you have read was, however, the Poly is and has been undergoing a TON of construction over the past few years. So much so, that we as a family are putting off a Poly stay until it is all complete -- we will probably wait until 2017.

That being said, in our trips over the years, we visit the Poly every time and this past time (April) it was really beautiful and peaceful in our opinion. We were not near the construction areas though.

I think people are uninformed about the state of the resort right now and with all of the money paid to stay there, yes it is disappointing, but when it's done, I think it's going to be really great!!

There's also a "slew" of positive reviews in the Poly thread. Every family is different and everyone has a different opinion on how bad the construction is to them personally.

some of the bad reviews are probably from DVC members who knew before they stayed there - there was no one or two bedrooms - only studios and the bungalows (way to expensive for me) - so they are disappointed. they give bad reviews because of this. So read the reviews and see what the problems are - to give a bad review just because it does NOT have something they want - is silly (my opinion)

We are thinking of staying there in Sept 2016 do you think most or all of the construction will be completed?:snail:

We just stayed at the Poly earlier this month and everything was perfect. Our room was totally fine and really, really clean. The grounds are gorgeous, CMs friendly. I really can't think of a negative thing to write about the Poly. Enjoy your trip!

This...We just got back from a stay in a villa and even complaints about the storage in those proved to be untrue for us and we were a family of 5 adults. I had a wheelchair and gear for my son with special needs and we still were able to move in the room just fine. The construction is what it is, they definitely were working on balconies on the pool side of Samoa and that would bug me more than a construction view. So see it's just what you are willing to tolerate personally. The pool was jammed but in a few weeks I am sure that will taper off as well.

I can't think of any other complaints people could have with the resort. It is just beautiful and the CM's were lovely.

I think if it's worrying you that much, you might want to switch to a different resort. Sounds like it will really bother you if it impacts your vacation. No snark intended, in case that's how this reads!

I'm anxious to hear about the state of construction I'll be there in October. Anyone know where the construction is located at this point?

Did you check out the Poly reviews on TripAdvisor? I find TripAdvisor reviews to be reliable and helpful.

We wouldn't even consider staying there this august based on the condition when we were there last. I hope they are ahead of schedule because in feb it still looked like a lot of work to go. When we were there last august I was stunned they were actually selling rooms in the condition it was in. And I was more stunned people were booking them. I hope the construction is nearing completion now but I wasn't about to chance it.

Im going in Sept. My biggest fear is the monorail reduced times. I am only staying there for the monorail. Ive read its on a reduced time schedule a few days per week. Kind of feel Ive spent a lot of money for nothing. If I wanted to be bused, Id stay at BC or POFQ, which I love too.

From what I have read, the maintenance on the monorail will only effect people riding from the TTC to magic kingdom. The resort loop will run with no issues. The people arriving by bus at the TTC will be directed to the boats by cast members instead of allowing them to jump on the resort line.

Glad you had a great stay. We are booked at the Poly next July and I can't wait to get back, regardless of whether or not there is any construction going on :goodvibes.

We just returned yesterday with 4 adults 1 12 yo. Stayed at Moorea. More storage would've been nice, but def manageable. CM's we're all great. We were DVC, but mousekeeping was great. Helped us out when someone took our laundry basket from the laundry room. Who does that ? Lol. Monorail to MK was the only one that was down. TTC was fine. Resort loops were fine. Got chairs at the pool. Yes there's construction, but it wasn't disruptive to us. We just walked past it when going to GCH. The rain shower is slow to drain, but didn't overflow. Hope that helps!! Great trip!
