Teen? Junior? Young Adult? There are quite a few words that accurately desscribe that age group. It has nothing to do with food not the "word" adult; it's the reasons behind the company classifying young kids as an adult that bother me. It simply shocks me that a company committed to children would permit a elementary school aged child into the parks by themselves and say it is perfectly fine since they have purchased an adult ticket.
AS far as the food - my daughter is an average kid who eats an average amount. She most likely will order from the childrens menu regardless of how we are paying for her. There's no way she could poossibly eat an adult portion so it would be a waste of food for her to order it.
ETA: I'm not sure exactly wher ein my post I stated my 4 yr old and 10 yr old ate the same amt; I did, however, say the amt of food they are offered at school is EXACTLY the same. Where we live, it isn't only the older children who are starving when they get home - it's all of them and the kids take a snack to school regardless of what elementary grade they are in.
In post 36 (I can't quote it b/c you made your comments with in the post instead of under.) In that post you stated "And actually most 10 year olds don't eat more." Like I said with my experience with cooking for many chidren over many years, yes 10 yr olds do eat more. Also, the reason I would give for younger children to want a snack when they get home just like the older children is the following. Most elementary schools feed the younger children first. Kindergarten normally eats lunch first and then 4th grade (the highest elementary school grade in our district) eats last. They are equally hungry not b/c the food amount satisfies all the ages appetites, but it has been a longer time since the younger children have eaten.
The statement that you made about a 10yr old "walking into the park by themselves". I'm pretty sure that Disney is counting on parents, actually parenting their children and not letting them go off by themselves at that age.
Then you in post 36 you said:
"When was the last time you saw an ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AGE CHILD ( congrats on finding your caps lock) vote or walk into a bar o drive. Yet this company says they are adults? That's ridiculous."
I will agree that I would rather put off paying the adult price for my DS's until they are 18. However the most ridiculous part of that statement isn't the part about the company saying they are adults. It's the part where you compare paying adult prices for a 10 yr old to them voting or going into a bar. The longer I am on these boards, the more I notice that people will use overly outlandish comparisons when trying to make a point.
peonyflower - I hope you have a wonderful trip, and let us know what you think of the Poly. We will be staying there for the first time in December.
