Would someone tell me about the longhouse set up. Is there a lounge on each floor or only the second?

Has anyone stayed next to an elevator and can you hear it in your room?

Also, is there Poly merchandise (clothing mainly) for sale without Stitch? I love all the Disney characters, except him. I just could never get into that one, lol. Maybe I will change my mind. Can I get something with the Poly logo and no character?

Thanks! Any additional info will be appreciated!:surfweb:

I stayed next to one in Samoa, and didn't hear anything.

Sorry, I don't have an answer to any of your other questions.

They definetly have Poly merchandise with a logo and no characters. Years ago they had more choices, but I know they still have T-shirts at least.

We were on the third floor of Samoa and didn't hear elevator noise but did hear a lot of inconciderate people. :(

I am not certain, but I think the only longhouse with a lounge is Hawaii and that is for concierge guests only.

mickey2minnie1, if by lounge you mean the seating areas it varies by longhouse. Some are outside like the one on the second floor of Samoa and the second floor area near the bridge between Raratonga and Niue. In Rapa Nui, Tokelau and Tahiti, there are inside lounge areas on the first floor. Not sure about the other floors.

We stayed in the Tahiti building and there were small lobbies on each floor with a sofa, a table, and some chairs.

Our room was 1028 in the Tahiti building and it was remarkably quiet during our stay considering we were right next to the elevator.

There actually isn't too much featuring Stitch. I saw lots of shirts with the Polynesian logo.

Thanks! Any additional info will be appreciated!

Have a great stay! :wizard:

Hi!

I stayed in the Tuvalu building and there wasn't a lounge in that longhouse.

In April of this year I saw some Poly merchandise and Stitch wasn't feature on any of them. There was a nice white tank top stitched with the 'Polynesian Resort' in deep blue embroidery. I plan to purchase that one next week. :thumbsup2

I'll comment on some of the Polynesian merchandise...

They used to have beautiful, large ceramic coffee mugs that had a full color sketch of the resort on one side, with the resort logo on the other side, and a description of the resort on the bottom. I found the same exact kind over at the Grand Floridian too, and bought that one during our GF trip. However, now the ceramic coffee mug at the Polynesian is tiny, it's brown and looks sort of like it's has brown "lava" melting down the side of it (and not in a good way. lol), and just has the words "Disney's Polynesian Resort" in only one color which is a sort of light yellow/tan color. They have a travel coffee mug in this same exact color and design. I'm quite disappointed in the size of the ceramic coffee mug, and the design of it. A resort as colorful and beautifil as the Polynesian should have better souvenirs.

They did have shot glasses with the old, more colorful logo on them, but I wasn't interested in buying more shot glasses.

Magnets... I love to purchase a resort magnet on each of our stays. There's a Polynesian magnet but it has Lilo and Stitch on it. Otherwise, the magnet is nice and colorful.

Clothing... They have the SAME EXACT clothing with the Polynesian name on it, as they have for the last few years. EXACTLY the same. For women, it's either a white tank-top with one-color writing "Disney's Polynesian Resort". I've purchased this tank-top and I do like it. They have shorts and sweat pants that are the same color as the stitching in the tank top, but there is NO writing on them at all. Nothing... Nada. So basically they're just plain short and pants. Nothing to show they're from the Polynesian resort. There is also a blue zip up sweat shirt jacket that is solid blue, but has the resort name in white stitching on the top left chest. The back of the jacket is plain. I think there may have been a few long-sleeved t-shirts that were exactly like the tank tops; white with a simple one-color stitching of the resort name.

Then there were other t-shirts.... these were NOT embroidered, they were iron-on or whatever they call it. They were in gray or blue, and had the Polynesian resort name on the front left chest and then a HUGE graphic design on the back that featured a hula girl. I guess this t-shirt is ok for a guy, at least it's colorful, but I really want a NICER, embroidered t-shirt, that's colorful, attractive, and tasteful. After several trips of seeing the same old Polynesian resort logo garbage, I ALMOST bought one of these t-shirts, but I didn't. It just wasn't worth it, and I don't mean money-wise. I knew I wouldn't wear that t-shirt anywhere. lol

There wasn't much else with the Polynesian resort name or logo on it. I think there was one other shirt, a pink shirt, that had a tiny resort name on the sleeve, or down by the hem of the shirt, or something. I looked at it several times during my trip but the sizes were quite limited, and the shirt was just not appealing at all.

Anyway, I don't mean to be a downer in regards to the Polynesian merchandise, but it is what it is, and I hope eventually they get someone better to purchase items for their shop.

Oh by the way, on our trip a few weeks ago, we stopped into the gift shops at the Grand Floridian and the Wilderness Lodge and they had beautiful resort-logo items to purchase, including beautiful ceramic coffee mugs, shirts, jackets, etc.

I LOVE the Polynesian resort. For my family and I it's the perfect place to stay for our Disney vacations, but I cannot get over the lack of nice resort logo clothes and other items, available for purchase. :confused3

P.S. I have pictures of ALL of the above items on my computer at home. If anyone wants to see them, I can post them when I get home. LOL

P.P.S. This is actually SeaSpray! LOL I'm on vacation, at my niece's house right now. :sunny:

Thanks so much for providing such great detail about the "resort wear"!! I am always looking to buy nice shirts, etc, from the resorts I visit, but it has to be stuff I will wear again--not just stuff appropriate to the resort. I still wear a hoodie I bought at the Mohonk House in New York all the time. I did notice that the Poly had slim pickings.

Hope you're having fun at the Jersey shore! Not quite the Poly, though, but fun!

You're welcome! :) I really should add that the gift shop "Bou-Tiki" does offer other clothes as well, such as Tommy Bahama, and some other brands. You can definitely find "nice" clothes there, but I was refering only to resort logo-wear.

Thanks, I am having a great time here, especially because I'm having a blast with my niece and her family, and my sister and BIL :grouphug: We are a party unto ourselves, wherever we are  :cool1: LOL But you're right, there's no place quite like the Polynesian :sunny:

Signed,
SeaSpray :sunny:

Tuvalu had a small table and chairs on a landing outside, if that counts as a lounge. I hear it is now a smoking area. Tahiti has tables, sofa and chairs near the elevators. Hawaii has a club-level type lounge. That's all I can think of, lounge-wise. There could very well be others.

I have slept near elevators and never heard any noise from the elevator, but have heard people being loud (or allowing their kids to be loud) in the hallways.

Thanks for all of your replies. You all are sooo great! The info really helps.

I would love to see the resort clothing Undercover SeaSpray, lol, if you do not mind. Thanks!

I happen to have a blue Polynesian t-shirt with the Polynesian logo in the front and on the back is a design of a hula dancer. When I was just in WDW I was at the Polynesian and purchased the same design in a sweathshirt with a hood. The top left had corner of the front says Disney's Polyneasian Resort and the back has the same design as the blue t-shirt.

When it comes to Polynesian merchandince with Stitch, the only thing I saw was Polynesian luggage tags with him on them.

I'm soooooooo excited, leaving in six days:dance3: :yay: :cool1: Can anyone tell me if there are screen doors with the balcony sliders at the Poly? Also a big thanks:thumbsup2 to all of your help getting me ready for the Poly:woohoo: Here's wishing:wizard: we all have a magical vacation:cheer2:

I for one would LOVE any resort goodie photos!! Clothes, mugs, magnents.. whatever! LOL

Hi!

I saw some interest in another thread and was wondering if anyone has any pics for merchandise from individual resorts to share and to get the rest of us even more excited to go and spend, lol.:thumbsup2

It helps pass the time!:yay:

Let's see if we can get something from each one...

Cannot wait...Poly GV 10/26-11/4:banana:
