From the time we arrive at MCO to the time we check in, at The Poly, change and rest up we will have about 2-3 hours to kill before our dinner ADR at 'Ohana. We are not planning anything that night (other than dinner). I figured we would roam around and check out the resort. If you had 2-3 hours to kill at The Poly (and 3 kiddos..12, 9 & 6) what would you do?

With the ages of your kids you could hit the pool (and beach) or rent water mice and tool around for a while on the lake. :goodvibes When we have time to kill we do a bit of resort hopping to fill in the time.

We are hoping to hit the pool but since we are arriving in Dec we need a back up plan.:goodvibes

Browse the gift shops.
Go to the arcade.
Explore the grounds.
Ride the monorail loop.
Rent a surrey bike.
Have a drink and relax in a hammock.
Go swimming.
Walk over to the GF.
ENJOY:cool1:

I don't know what time you're talking about specifically, but you can go to the hula lesson in the lobby and depending on the day of the week, don't miss the torch-lighting ceremony!

As a PP mentioned, ride the monorail and visit the GF and/or CR. You could even transfer and ride the EPCOT monorail in the amount of time you have. You could even work in a ride on the motor launch or the MK ferry.

Agreed. We usually grab something to drink at Captain Cooks, soak up the atmosphere on the beach, then go ride the monorail and visit the GF and the CR. :goodvibes

Also in the Poly lobby is the "make your own lei bracelet" craft area. It is near the childrens' movie and coloring area. It is a great way to pass the time and you come away with a souvineer.

I'd wander around the resort and get the feel for it. If you've never been there before, it can be confusing to get around (especially at night). More importantly, it will help relax you after your flights.

There's also a nice walk over to the Grand Floridian (if you're all up to it). Wander over there and check it out.

Maybe the adults can even stop off at the Floridian Spa and get a massage... that's the way to start a vacation!

Agree with all the above. The various boats are fun even if the weather is cool.

Check out the resort, the grounds are beautiful. If riding the monorail, don't cut the time too close as there are delays. I cut it too close and we missed our ADR at The Wave since the monorail kept holding for "traffic".

For that time of year, I would recommend taking the monorail from the Polynesian to the Grand Floridian (1 stop) and check out the Christmas Decorations and the giant gingerbread house.

Didn't the Wave honor your reservation anyway? They should be accustomed to an occasional monorail delay.

Thanks everyone. Now I have a list of things to do. We have been to WDW in Dec but didn't stay at the Poly. There were quite a few days when we were able to swim but I do not want to plan on that (let alone mention it to the kids) just in case. Thanks, again.

does anyone know the cost of boat rentals at the poly....canopy boats, pontoon, mouse racers etc?
