This may be more like opinions needed not an actual question. We are booked in a Garden room Dec 5-12. When I booked the CM added that we are celebrating our 10th anniversary while there and told me to let everyone know but it will be noted already, when we check in. I was wondering if I should call them to "request" a longhouse or if they might give us, what they think, is the best view, in the garden view catagory? I am not talking about upgrades, at all. I am just wondering if I request X longhouse but Y longhouse has a much nicer location/view. I really wouldn't have an opinon since we have never stayed there only passed by.

You could just let the Disney magic decide, but if you are worried, you could ask for a particular building. We loved Fiji. One side looks over the marina and the other side of the building faces a beach.

Why don't you do a search on the Polynesian. Check out All ears dot net and tiki man 2001 dot homestead dot com and really learn the place so you know more about it. It's a beautiful place and you will not be disappointed with whatever room you are assigned.
:thumbsup2

Second vote for Tiki man's site. It will tell you everything you need to know about the resort.

Since your going off season, I'd let Disney work it's magic. pixiedust: You might sell yourself short by requesting a building.

I'm all for requesting a building in the moderate resorts, but personally don't feel it's necessary for the deluxe. The deluxe resorts are half the size of the moderates, they're much more manageable.

When I stayed at the Poly, I requested "ground floor" at check in. They upgraded us to a beautiful lagoon view room ground floor room.

Happy anniversary! (Our 10th in in May!)

We have stayed at the Poly GV in the Fiji building and we had a nice marina view, it was very close to the Main House and we had a great time. Last month I requested the third floor Samoa building so we could see the volcano pool and we had the building but ground floor and it was soooo perfect! Close walk to everything! We are going back in 25 days and plan on requesting the Samoa building again, third floor and on the volcano side of the building.

I agree that you should check out the tikiman website, it's great. I know that we requested a longhouse when we stayed at the Poly in July '07 but we didn't end up on the building we requested so I'm not sure it matters all that much. We stayed in Rapa Nui which is further away from the ceremonial house and the pools but....we loved the walk through the grounds because it is so beautiful. Our kids are young and they had no problem with the walk at all, plus it's really close to the TTC to hop the monorail to Epcot. We absolutely loved the Poly...I hope you have a great time no matter which longhouse you are in! :coffee:

We are also going in March and will be celebrating our 10th too.

Tikkman's site was a big help, as well as this board. I have requested Tokelau and Tahiti pixiedust:

Good luck.

I have read that the room sizes are larger in the newer longhouses. Can anyone tell me if the difference is noticeable?

I think it's noticeable to some extent. The bathrooms are larger, definitely. And instead of the one chair and ottoman that the older buildings have, the new ones have two (we really liked that for eating in the room!). But both styles of rooms feel nice and big. We've never felt crowded in either. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the info, I have been debating about requesting one of the newer longhouses, but the distance from the GCH worries me. It is closer to the TTC though.....
