Thanks to your previous answers we are pretty sure that we will be staying at the Poly for the first week and OKW for the second week of our trip in Aug of 2005. (sure wish it were this year)

Anyways I have a couple more questions that perhaps all you Poly experts can help with. I read on one of these posts that the Poly pool at that time of year can be very very busy, the pool is very important to my DH & granddaughter. They would be very distressed if the pool was too busy to comfortably use.

If the main pool is busy how is the quiet pool. I know they would enjoy the main themed pool better but if necessary the would use the quiet pool. I had heard it was closed for refurbishment. Does anyone know when it will be completed and would it be comparable to say the quiet pools at OKW? Thanks sorry so lengthy.

Here's a photo of the quiet pool at the Polynesian, from the Resorts area here on the DIS,http://www.wdwinfo.com/Photos/Polynesian/pages/DSC02323.htm :

It's kind of hard to tell from this angle, but it's a pretty large pool. The refurbishment is scheduled to be complete in April, so you should be safe there. Last week, it looked like they were installing new decking around the pool.

I've never seen the Volcano pool full enough to be uncomfortable, but we've never been in August...

(If you click on the link at the top of this post, you can see lots of wonderful photos of the Polynesian... including a number of shots of the Volcano pool!)

We 've been to Poly several times, but only once during the summer. The Volcano pool had plenty of people in it! But, it is pretty large! I don't know what you would consider crowded, but we were fine with it! Also, the quiet pool rarely has more than a handful of people in it! I don't think you will have any problem swimming at Poly!!! :bounce:

I was at the Poly last July and the pool was always crowded. I noticed alot of people who were not resort guests in the volcano pool. My kids, however, could have cared less about the crowds in the pool with the exception of the long wait to go down the slide. The quiet pool was crowded as well, but not as bad as the main pool. It really depends on what time you are in the pools. We tend to go in the mid-afternoon. It was very crowded at that time. Neither pool was very crowded after dinner time.

We have stayed at the Poly 5 times in late August and on 2 recent occasions, the pool was SRO and it was frustrating to spend all of that money and have to be concerned about people constantly bumping into you. I don't recall the crowds being such a problem in the first few years that we stayed at the Poly. FYI- the pool population significantly increased after 2pm and on super-hot August days. That being said, we very much enjoy the Poly Conc. convenience and will continue to stay there. Threehearts

Yes, I think the volcano pool gets too crowded for my taste. I prefer the quiet pool whenever I can get dd over there instead.

Thank you all for the information and advice. It's always nice to know you can get help from all of you. This board is great :). Thanks again.
