Did they send the Hidden Springs pool bubblers over there?!?! :p

It's nice to see that it's getting close, but my first thought was what a big round pool of nothingness........ And too little shade for an Oasis.

I'm being a little facetious but I just don't get Disney and many of their pool designs.

Agree about the shade, but I kind of like the round nothingness, like it was before. I was worried they'd create some kind of themed shape that actually lost space. I dislike how crowded the Lava pool gets.

Oh, BTW there - hello, fellow Corgi parent! :)

I was out at the Poly on Monday and walked by, (big thanks for the pix, Jade1!!), but couldn't see quite as much as Jade1 as I was checking it out on ground level. It looked like they were finalizing painting the eaves and just doing lots of last minute small details. Pretty sure that pool is not round though, Kat4Disney. It's more oblong from what I could see. Not sure if it has a "freeform" oblong design or not. And I do think that once we are into the Spring weather those trees will begin to fill in. Plus, in just a very few years they will be a lot bigger so hopefully there will be a lot more shade.

Hello! We have 2 Cardigan Corgi's. Great boys that are now 11 and 13. How about you?

For the pool - I'm not against round but for some reason it just seems un-creative and then that seems un-Disney. I'm a bit shaded in my judgement I'd guess from the original plans that had leaked out though for that pool area when DVC was considering a much larger Poly project.

I think its premature to complain about a lack of shade at the Oasis pool. There is a structure on the north side of the pool that should offer shade:

It looks like the structure is quite large:

And the overhangs from what I think will be the new bar & grill should offer shade as well:

I'd suspect that the overhang will be for table seating for dining, not for pool lounging. I don't think the two exactly compare - table seating by the snack bar vs sitting close to the pool in a lounger.

And as I've seen the pictures of the other structures I'm betting they have a use for those beyond shaded seating. I don't know if anyone has heard what they are for?

So having never stayed at the Poly before I have no clue what was there in this Oasis pool area before? Did they completely rip out an old pool and start all over again from the ground up? Same for the bar / concession area? Don't know what we're comparing the new pool area to from the pool area of the past?! Is this supposed to be a "quiet pool"?

Thanks Jade! for the update!!

(No corgis for me - cat lover here.) :cat:

Not to hijack thread but I need to get in on this. I have two corgis too. Pembrokes, a girl and a boy that are 3 and 2. Corgis are best dogs. Love them!

They did completely demolish the previous pool (which was a very similar blah too IMO :teeth:). There wasn't a bar or anything else there - I don't think there was even a hot tub so it's been upgraded from the previous amenities.

From Allears.net:

And here was Tikiman's description of the previous pool that was located here:

"The second pool (the East Pool) was added in 1978 and was nicknamed the quiet pool. It was called the quiet pool because it has no slide and even after it was put in, it never was very popular with the kids. We all know where there are kids there are parents so now they were still all over at the Nanea pool.

In the begining of 2011 the East Pool was drained and the deep end was filled in. It went from about 8 feet deep to 4 feet 6 inches in the middle and 3 feet at the wall. New tile work was done and it reopened May 2011. July 13, 2015 the East pool will close for a complete redesign along with a bar and grill being added to its location. The East pool will become the Oasis Pool and is expected to reopen Spring 2016"

Awesome! Love older Corgs. We have 1 female (Pembroke) who just turned 12. Lots of issues, but loving life, and we adore her to pieces. :)
