Hi, :wave2:

We are in such a quandary! :confused3 :confused3
this is the first time DH and I are going to go deluxe rather than a moderate resort. We both love POR, but want to try something more upscale. We love the boardwalk area of disney and so are thinking about going to the BCR or YCR, but are also contemplating the POLY. anyone with thoughts on this? The POLY is more expensive - beautiful - but is it worth more to go there? I mean I wonder about the extras like the view of the Castle and the EWP? I like the ambiance of the boardwalk and the pools there and the restaurants. Anyway we like the water and all of them look great. why would you choose one over the other? what are the extra special things at the BCR?

I would appreciate anyone's thoughts on any of the three. Thanks so much!

It's such a personal choice. Consider where you'll be spending your time; which parks, where will you eat, how much pool time will you spend. We love yc/bc, bw really doesn't appeal to me, one of these days I'm dying to stay at Poly, probably would never stay at CR or GF. I know others who would consider that blasphemy. That is why it is such a personal decision. You'll be happy with any of your choices.

The only way I would choose Poly over BC/YC is if I was traveling w/ young kids. The dining choices, pool, proximity to 2 parks are my main reasons for choosing YC.

we've only stayed at the Polynesian, never at the YC. This year we are splitting our trip between the two. My DD 11 & 14 insisit we stay at the Poly for part of our trip.

I agree with airplane, that the proximity to two parks is what influences our decision to stay at YC. We like Epcot and MGM especially, so we like to walk to Epcot and stay until we are tired, then walk (or boat) back to YC to rest, then choose Epcot or MGM and walk or boat there.

we usually split our stay between the poly and either bwi or bc... because we have a 18 month old dd we want the ease of the monorail.. but, if it were just my and dh we would definitely stay at the boardwalk or beach club, because epcot and mgm are our favorites...

yacht/beach club if no kids (or kids are older), and poly if kids are little.

We are staying at the YC because we are on the free dining and plan to eat the majority of our restaurants in Epcot. I will say this, last time we stayed at GF and thought that the monorail would be convient, it wasn't except for getting to MK, getting back we took the boat. The monorail was not even convient to Epcot because of the change at TTC. (A lot of walking to make the connection). YC/BC is so much more convenient to two major parks. Plus it has a lot more dining choices.

Unlike the GF, you can walk to the TTC from the Poly, so you can get a direct monorail to Epcot.

I really appreciate the help. I had thought the monorail would be so much more convenient, but it doesn't sound like it makes that big a difference. It is good to read that a number of you think BCR is better than the POLY without kids. since it costs less, that makes the decision easy. thanks again -

Hey Airplane,

Why do you like YC over BC? Anything special? Is is location or things you can see or special buildings or anything?

I am in the same dilema. We will be a party of 4. Three adults and one child. DH, my mother and son. I like the Wilderness Lodge, but think that would be too small and they don't have roll away beds. No one wants to sleep with my son since he is a kicker .

I got a price on the Poly since you would have two queens and a day bed and that would solve that problem. But I was reading up on the Beach Club and learned that roll aways are available for free. Also looking at some pictures I saw two queens and a day bed, but the room description doesn't state that as an option. But the number of people is 5. Any information on this would be great.

My son is 8 and walking is no problem. He walked all this month from the Hard Rock to Universal and ISOA in 90+ degree heat and high humidity without any issues.

Advantages of the Poly to me are close to MK, larger and mono rail.

Advantages of the Beach club to me are close to two parks, EPCOT is open later then MK when we are there (November) so most likely we will go there at night anyway.

I didn't think that I would like the BWI and then we stayed ther in 2004 I loved it and we went again in 2005. It is so compact and the gardens are lovely, the quiet pool is the nicest that I have seen. I have also stayed at the YC and BC and I prefer the BC.

I have stayed at the lodge and a beautiful resort not far from MK.

I have also stayed at BCV and really enjoyed it here. Next to 2 theme parks, more restaurants to choose from, pool was awesome, beaches and cream--yum!!--took a stroll over to Yacht club while we were there--breath taking!

Going with no kids--I would choose the Yacht Club

I like the decor better at the YC although I have not seen the BC rooms since they were renovated. I would choose the resort based on price and availability. If I call the YC and they don't have a standard view available, I would choice the BC. Also, I enjoy the lounge area at the YC and there seems to be less kids running around and less people hanging out in the lobby area (I'm sure it was pure coincidence).

Thanks airplane. Have you ever stayed at the BWI? I heard it was newer than the BC or YC. I also read a complaint about not being able to get to the entrance of Epcot except by foot. how big a deal did you find that?

BW is newer than yc/bc. We stayed at the YC in '93 and our view beyond the lagoon was wooded! As for your question about the EPCOT entrance, you really shouldn't need to get there as you can walk or boat to the international gateway to get in.

I never stayed at the BWI so I can't help you there but I have heard nothing but fabulous thinngs about the rooms. After spending all day in the parks the walk was a little long but it's not too bad. They do have a boat that takes you from the BW resorts to the international gateway. If you are really tired you could always take that. If you don't time the boat right, it could take a while b/c the boat moves very slow.

We just returned from the BC on the 14th and had a room with two queens and the daybed. It was a beautiful room! Very clean and fresh. We also were close to a stairway door that allowed us to bypass the main lobby and hit the path to Epcot. It took us only between 5 and ten minutes to get to the gate..depending on the heat! :flower: I hope to return to the BC again. We had breakfast at the YC Galley and I preferred the decor in the BC. It's lighter and brighter. The YC appeared more stuffy and formal. Just my opinion of course.

I am so glad to hear that! :Pinkbounc I just tried to book YC for Sept 27 through Oct 3rd - and it was not available. I had gone back and forth between the two - because I love the casual look of the BC, but had heard people thought the YC was more attractive. Anyway I hurried up and booked the BC before that was gone too! I am thrilled you liked it. I am so excited. We have stayed at either POR or POFQ before and this is our first time at a deluxe resort. we plan to spend more time at our resort this time and take it easier.
Did you think it was worthwhile to upgrade to deluxe?
