We have a land and sea package booked for June/July and we have booked the WL. I am really having second thoughts, mostly because of transportation and the plans we have for meals. It looks like we are going to be spending a lot of time going back and forth. We are not renting a car so we have to rely on WDW transportation.

We plan on at least 2 meals at Kona, 2 meals at CR , 2 at AKL, and 2 meals at GF as well as some meals at Epcot.

I plan to call my TA today to see if I can change and if there is availability at Poly. What do you think? If I can change, should I change? I can't wait to hear from all of you! Thanks:confused:

I have never stayed at WL.. but have stayed at the Poly many times.. I like the closeness of MK and being on the monorail.. it does make life easier.. also if you really want to make your life easier, request a room close to the Ticket Transporation center and then you have the best of both worlds.. a quick walk to the monorail to Epcot and the other way heading to the Great Ceremonial house the monorail to MK..

I would try the Poly just because of the ease of transportation. You can take a boat over to the Contemporary and catch the monorail from there but you will spend a lot more time that way. That said, I have stayed at the Poly a few times and will try WL this trip so I can't say which is "nicer." The Poly was really nice though!

I have stayed at both resorts multiple times, and they both have advantages. Poly certainly has better transportation, which might be a big advantage for you - you can take the resort monorail to CR and MK, and you can walk to the transporation center to get to other resorts, like the AKL. The rooms at Poly are bigger, and I love the theme. However, I have to say that I adore the WL - it is amazing, especially when you first walk into the lobby. I am a Disney old-timer- have been going there since 1973 - and I thought I was totally jaded...but the first time I saw the WL lobby, I uttered, "WOW!!!" to myself!! Though transportation might be a little more tricky here, there is boat transportation to MK, CR, and (I am almost positive) Poly and GF. I would book your evening meals at an early enough time that boat transportation is still running, though! Getting to AKL will be more difficult, involving a bus transfer somewhere. Don't forget, however, that you could rent a car for a few days - WL is usually slightly less expensive than Poly, so you might pay about the same price with a rental car. Transportation to Epcot will be no problem from either resort using the WDW system.

Sounds like you are in for a fab trip, no matter what you decide!!!!

I have visited WL several times but never stayed there and I have stayed at the Polynesian. If it were me, I would stay at the Polynesian because transportation will be much easier to get to GF and Contemporary. You can even walk to GF from the Polynesian. I also like the theme and grounds of the Polynesian more than the WL. Have fun and enjoy your vacation!

These are the two resorts I would most want to stay at. I have obviously from my signature stayed at WL and am going back there (hopefully all being well) in March. I have visited the Poly and it is really gorgeous. Just a bit busier.

I am always amazed with the transportation posts about WL. It may not be as good as the monorail resorts, but it is far advanced of the transportation at POR (the last time we were there). Remember that some of the buses to the themeparks share with Poly and GF... and WL guests get the best of both worlds by being the first on a bus (good for seats!) and then being the first to be dropped off. What this also means is that you can take a bus to the Poly which is precisely what we did for breakfast at Kona. Then you have the monorail for GF/ CR and the parks. We found the boat to MK very quick and probably as quick as the monorail when timed from the point of boarding (ok, maybe the monorail is a *fraction* faster, but it is marginal when you consider stopping to pick up guests and then exiting the monorail.

Enjoy your trip no matter where you stay. Both resorts are amazing!

I think that I was incorrect about there being boat transportation from WL to Poly and GF. There is a bus that stops at the Poly (as the last poster mentioned), and a boat that stops at CR. It is easy to get to GF from either of these places, obviously, as they are on the monorail loop. Also, you can walk to GF from Poly.

Good luck in making this tough decision - I'llbe thinking of you in 6 days...when I betray my beloved WL with a 3-night stay at Poly!!

I did check on all of your responses from work today and decided to make the switch. I called my TA, they have availability, and now I am just waiting for her confirmation before I change my signature and countdown. I am really excited to be going to the Poly. I think it is going to give us more flexibility to change clothes quickly before we go to the CG or Citrico's.

I will be sure to post my trip report after I go and let you all know how much we loved it! Thank you for your help!
