I am currently booked at the Poly for the end of July w/my DH, DD 9, & DS 3 1/2. I just found out about a FL resident rate at the BC for $900 less. I have never been to either. I originally booked Poly for the monorail, the restaurants (Ohana & Kona), larger rooms, and being able to watch the MK fireworks and water parade while swimming at the Volcano pool in the evening. The parks we are going to are MK, Epcot, & AK. Since we are traveling with a toddler we want to come back midday and rest at the hotel then go back in the evenings. BC seems like a nice hotel but no monorail. What would you do? Is Poly worth $900 more? :confused3

That is a tough one... I love the Poly and with children those ages, MK will be a big draw. Being so close via the monorail will be very handy. However, $900 is a LOT of money. To still be in a Deluxe resort, especially one with such great access to Epcot and with such a great pool, I would probably do it. For $200 or $300, no, but for $900. That's HUGE!

$900 is a lot of money considering you are still at a Deluxe Resort. We love the Poly, but for $900 I would stay at the BC. Just think of all the extra or better food you could eat, or maybe even extend your vacation a couple of days.

Go to the Beach club. You could have anothr trip to WDW with the $900 saving;) BTW they are my 2 favorite deluxes.

I'd choose the Beach Club! We stayed there last fall and fell in love with the resort and the whole Epcot resort area! The pool there is great! It is a huge pool, but my kids wanted to spend most of their time in the "kiddie" section anyway. Each afternoon, a Beach Club CM would come out to the pool and play games with the kids. It was fun.

As for dining, you have Beaches & Cream, which is great for burgers & ice cream. There's also Cape May Cafe, which has a character breakfast with Minnie, Goofy, Chip, & Dale dressed in their beach wear. CMC also has a seafood buffet at night, but we didn't try it at night. Just across the lagoon, which is an easy walk or you could take the boat, there are the many restaurants of the Boardwalk. Our fav is Spoodles! Plus, all of the great restaurants of World Showcase are a quick walk away!

We didn't have any problems with bus service. We found it to be prompt and efficient, with the exception of Downtown Disney. It wasn't a problem getting to DTD, but getting back took 45 minutes from the time we boarded the bus.

I think the Poly is great too. We're staying there this year, just because I've always wanted to & we haven't before. But, for a difference of $900, I'd choose the BC!!

The BC is starting to sound pretty good. I am still hesitant about the bus system. I read you share buses with other resorts to get to MK & AK. Going back & forth in the same day to the parks with a toddler on the bus sounds stressfull. Are you able to see the Epcot fireworks from stormalong bay in the evening ?

Have you checked to see if you can get the Beach Club. I would be surprised if they are not booked at that time.

You will have buses to Magic Kingdom and AK that at times shares with 4 other resorts, so it can get crowded and hectic at times stopping at all those other locations.

Polynesian definitely has better transportation. Also the Polynesian has a very good counter service restuarant which the Beach Club does not. They have added a quick service food selection to the shop at the Beach Club, but it is not a restuarant.

You can see the fireworks from the beach area of the resort, but certainly not like watching Wishes from the Polynesian.

But as everyone else said $900 is a huge difference, only you can decide if the difference matters.

That is the big draw back of the Beach Club. The bus transportation is not good, to say the least. In October it took us 40 minutes to get to MK, after all of the stops. 45 minutes to get from the Animal Kingdom back to the Beach Club. After getting on the bus. We timed it.

You can usually see the high fireworks from the back of the resort. We had a balcony overlooking that side, and we would stand with a glass of wine, and watch the fireworks. Very nice way to end the day.

You do have a touch choice to make. My family prefers the Poly, for all of the reasons you listed. But $900 is quite a chunk of money. What is most important to you? Will the inconveniece of the busses outweigh the money you have saved?

How long are you going for? Could you maybe do a split stay, and try both places?

I just wanted to add that I understand about the toddler age and wanting to get back to the resort midday for a break. We have twin toddlers and BC is our favorite resort, with Poly as our 2nd choice. When we stay at BC, what we do sometimes is plan a morning in Epcot doing the attractions and then we hop on the monorail over to MK. We have a double jogger and try to find ways to avoid buses. There are ways LOL! As long as you're flexible with your schedule and not in a hurry. We also monorail back to Epcot after we're done at MK, walk thru Epcot park and eat dinner in the Epcot countries, then walk back to BC. It also gives our twins time to rest in the jogger. I realize you have an older child too, so I'm not sure how all of this would work for you. It works very well for us.

We love, love, love the Poly, but for a $900 savings I would switch to the Beach Club. $900 can buy a lot of souveniers! :)

I totally agree with everybody...save the $ and go for BC! Doesn't this last minute switching make the planning even better? :)

Both of those resorts are on my wishlist. For that amount of savings I would definately choose BC.

Since you live in Florida, won't you have your car? To save $900, if the bus transportation wasn't good enough, I'd just drive to the parks. Since you're staying on-site you won't have to pay parking fees.

Great point. We always drive to the parks because we don't like the buses. We have a shorter walk to our car than to the bus stop usually.

I have stayed at the Poly and absolutely love it for all the reasons you mentioned. I have a DS7, DS2, and a DD1, as convienent as the Poly is I think I would save the $900 and put it to my next trip and stay at the Poly. We have thought about staying at the BC for the pool which you little one will probally love. The BC is walking distance to MGM and Epcot. So I think you will really enjoy it there.

Yes, I will be driving but I did not know that parking was free at the parks if you stayed at a onsite resort. Thanks for the info!

Hi there! I toyed with that exact same question for weeks. The Poly is our favorite resort and BC is our second. At first, we decided we were sticking with the Poly no matter what. But, then we decided we would rather save the money. So, we swithed vowing that the next time we would stay at the Poly. That's a lot of money. It was a $568 savings for us. I think for $200 - $400 we wouldn't do it. But anything $500 or more, I couldn't resist.

Either resort is FANTASTIC. But, very different. With a young child, the MK is probably where you'll spend a lot of time and you can't beat the monorail - and the large rooms at the Poly. We're a childless couple, so the Epcot resort area is nice for us. I think for you it all comes down to money and that's almost $1000! Wow! Now, keep in mind you can walk to Epcot and/or MGM or take the Friendship so there are some transportation advantages to BC.

this is a tough one. Good luck and remember that whatever you decide you're bound to have a great vacation.

This is a tough choice and one I am facing as well. WE have the Poly for August. The end though. They have not come out with AP or Fla. resident rates yet but I have been waiting. First I had to decide on paying for dining with a rack rate. I did it because we have 3 big eaters as well as my Dh and are doing alot of signature things this year. But now I am looking to switch if a discout comes out. BC IS ONE THAT DID OFFER A RATE UNTIL 8/5. So it may be one for the later dates. I think my boys 14, 10 ,6 would like bc because of the pools (last year we walked around the resort had to HAVE ice-cream at beaches and cream you know) but we always do the POly for location. Now that they are older we love Epcot though. You see my dilema. For us it would be about the same as far as savings.($1000) It needs to be a rate under $2000 for the week in order to make it worth while to cancel dining . DH want no part of switching resorts and doesnt care about the $$$. I DO!! In the end we will probably spend the extra for the Poly. and make DH walk around the epcot resorts.(he wasnt with us last year) Maybe he will learn to love another resort as well. Ahh the choices we planners must make.
