Hello! I'm in the beginning stages of planning a trip for next April (2024) with DH, and two kids who will be 7 and 9 at the time. My realistic options are the Poly studio or OKW 1 bedroom. I LOVE staying in a one bedroom because of the extra room and the kitchen but have also never stayed at the Poly and it looks sooo nice! Has anyone stayed in a studio? Is it big enough for 4 people who might be a little sick of each other by the end of the day? : ) I've also never stayed at OKW but have heard good things.

Any input is appreciated!

Thanks!

Poly is large by hotel standards and sleeps 5, so three sleeping surfaces. Laundry isn't far, but can be a building over. I don't cook at Disney, but there is a little fridge and I think a microwave.

I'm generally not a studio person, but Poly has the nicest ones. We did a split stay last summer - Poly followed by a 1BR at Beach Club.

Are you the owner? Some Poly studios can be difficult at the 7month mark. A one bedroom @ OKW would be easier.

Is the location of Poly worth being on top of each other OR will the extra space of the one bedroom be worth navigating the vastness of OKW?

My vote would be a studio @ the Poly. #1 LOCATION, #2 Fireworks viewing #3 There are plenty of areas to just get away (lobby, beach, walk to other resorts etc.

The split bath is pretty good and we had a great lakeview there. My only issue is no covered walkway from DVC villas to the main building. Other than that, A+++

I've stayed in both and my initial reaction was immediately the one bedroom at OKW. However, considering the ages of your kids, as said above and like realtors say, LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION, and you can't beat the closeness to MK and the ability to take the ferryboat or monorail, and be in the MK in 15 minutes.

A vote for Poly here. You’ll have a queen bed, a queen sized Murphy, and a little Murphy/pull-down under the TV that should fit your 7 year old very comfortably. (Mine loves the little bed under the TV!) Two sinks, a shower and a tub, one toilet. No kitchen or in-room laundry. The theming of the Poly is pretty magical and it’s more convenient to get around compared to OKW. Laundry is in Moorea on the first floor which isn’t too bad.

OKW is much more laid back than the Poly. But with high energy kids, I would vote Poly. The pool is great fun, even the quiet pool is awesome at the Poly. (And it’s right outside Tokelau if you stay there.)

Poly is great. We stayed in a studio two years ago with our then 18 year old son. I would not stay in a studio again with more than 2 buuuuuuuuut younger kids are different. It is a large studio, you will have plenty of room. The nice thing about the studio, over the 1 bedroom, is you will have two showering areas, although only one toilet. You would have more seperation in the one bedroom but only you know your kids and how well they do. But you won't feel cramped at Poly.

We have never stayed at OKW but have stayed at Poly. When we first stayed a couple of years ago I wasn’t a fan of the decor but now since they have put in the pull down bed and changed the decor it’s much nicer and brighter looking. Also it’s pretty spacious, we had 4 in the room and we didn’t feel cramped at all.You can’t beat the location and the food options are really good at all the monorail resorts so you have a great selection to choose from. Also you can walk to the TTC to get the monorail to Epcot or walk to GF and take the walking path to MK. Whatever you choose have a great trip!

Thank you everyone! Poly it is! (as long as I can get it at the 7 month mark) I really appreciate all the input!

We own at both and like doing a split stay - Poly the first half , OKW the second half (when you really appreciate the extra space from each other!)
