We're a party of 5.
3 adults (myself, husband and my mom)
2 kids 15 and 9 (girls, if this matters).

DH LOVES GF.

I'd be booking at the 7 month mark. We've never stayed at either.
Lake View at GF is 4 less points at GF.
Poly Lake View is 4 points more but uses up my allocation exactly. (vs. have 4 points left over.)

WWYD?

If you can't bank those 4 points I'd do PVB and walk over to spend time at GF during your trip. I once had 2 points left over and it became a burr under my saddle not being able to do anything with them and seeing them there every time I logged into the DVC site until they expired. But I happen to love the poly so I may be biased as well. :)

Poly will be easier to get at the 7 month mark since there are so many more studios. Poly has 288 standard and 72 lake studios and VGF has 30 standard and 17 lake studios.

PVB for the extra 91sf in the room - you'll really appreciate it with 5 people!

Poly: Better bathroom situation, more square footage, newly renovated, wisely uses all of your points, better 7-month availability, easier to get to Epcot! You’re going to the Poly!! 😀

Assuming you will have a choice at 7 months I'd say Poly just because it would bug me to have 4 points sitting in the account unused.

They both are going to be pretty comparable - VGF refurb will be done by then and Poly's just happened so both will have the murphy bed/sleeper combo and both have the single murphy. Both have a split bath but Poly has 2 sinks vs 1 at VGF. The extra bit of square footage at PVB would probably be appreciated but I don't think there will be regrets either way.

Poly and VGF have very similar bathroom setup. PVB has a extra sink and a little more room in the bathroom. The rest of the bedroom area are about the same size.

VGF

I've stayed in both and absolutely loved my Lake view studio at VGF. Poly definitely wasn't my favorite. not for me. The theming just didn't interest me. I have a theory that if you like Hawaii and Aulani, you'll like the Poly. I should have gotten a clue since I have no interest in Hawaii.

The Poly living area is noticeably larger. Not the greater spacing from the wall of the murphy bed and between it and the small table and chairs. Also that there is room for nightstands on both sides. And it is wider as well with more space between the murphy bed when it is down and the queen bed.

The Poly is about 75 square feet larger than VGF. I really like the size of the Poly studios.
Most of that area is in the bathroom and entry, not the bedroom area. As a matter of fact the new Murphy bed is basically against the slider.
Even SSR studios have more room to the slider.

The SSR studio sofa/murphy is a double bed while Poly has a queen for the second bed.

Between those two, I’d go Poly for the extra space for 5.

That being said, if it was me, for 5 people, I may stay in an one bedroom at one of the resorts that require fewer points per night. I think AKL, OKW, and SSR’s one bedrooms are all around the same points per night as a POly Lake View and would give you almost double the space of a studio. I value space though, so understand if location is the bigger factor for you.

Enjoy the trip - it will be wonderful wherever you end up!
