Poly or GF?

I just booked the Poly for 3 nights for Labor Day weekend. My TA also gave me a quote on the GF and it would only be $64 more to switch. We've been to the Poly once before, for 2 nights. We really liked it, but not quite as much as the BC. Poly and BC are the only 2 Deluxes we've stayed at. What would you do? It's a fantastic price for either one!

Depends who is traveling. I have a 6 year old boy, who loved the Poly, and would not be interested in GF. I have stayed there as an adult, but prefer the Epcot resorts-(always went during f&w).

I think my main reason is this- I feel like the GF isn't that 'special', there are several resorts on the east coast of Florida that are similar, but much nicer, if you want that old Florida feel.

So, in my opinion there are many better and more unique options at WDW--example- the Poly :) From the music to the atmosphere I just think it's something different and special.

I do realize that a ton of people will probably disagree with me.

If the GF is on your bucket list then switch. I would. Does the theming appeal to you? I think it is lovely but have never stayed there. Here is what I would do I'd take a look at the amenities you'll use - the splash pad, the pools, the restaurants and if the GF appeals more than the Poly or vice versa I think that would help me make up my mind.

We chose to stay at the Poly again this trip and are heading to BWI for the second half of the trip. I too was quoted a price for GF and the variance was quite a bit higher!

I agree with this. We've stayed at both and while the Poly is our favorite resort overall, the GF runs a very close second. Both have beautiful atmospheres, nice pools, and great dining options. If the $64 is total for all 3 nights, that's a great deal (IMO) as it's only an additional $21/nt. Good luck!

I always say try something new, so go with GF, you already know how you feel about POLY. My family loves GF, including our 6 and 11 year old DDs. For Dw and I it's not really close.

Tough choice. I agree with others that both resorts are almost equally awesome!!

If both equally appeal to you, this is a good chance to try something new. If you have always wanted to try the GF, now is the time! If you are simply curious, I don't think that you will regret trying the GF.

However, the Poly is wonderful so I can understand the appeal to not give up a stay here.

Look at both online and go with the one that calls to you. Either will be fantastic!

COngratulations on getting a great deal at these two resorts

Be very careful w/ choosing the GF - I did, thinking it would be a one and done, wrong - I really like the GF and if my budget allowed would stay there every time.
I'm just so so about the Poly - which I thought I'd love, but was underwhelmed - maybe because I really enjoy having a balcony and at the Poly got stuck in one of those 2nd story non balcony rooms.

Go GF! Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Poly, but you've stayed there already, so if the price is right, try GF. GF is lovely and has far more amenities than Poly (more restaurants, better QS IMHO, more shops, etc.). All of the rooms were recently refurbished and every room gets turn-down service. We've stayed at both a number of times and wouldn't hesitate staying at either again (though, like you, we prefer the EP resorts). Yes, I would switch to GF.

I would switch to GF in a heartbeat! I much prefer this resort. I like the stores, the 24 hour quick service and the bright airy feel. Also not relevant for you but as a wheelchair user the cobbles on the Poly paths are very inaccessible for me.

The pool and childrens play area is cute at GF with the mad hatter theme.

Thanks everyone! I'm pretty much sold on switching to GF, but I'm having a hard time selling DH. He absolutely loved the Poly, and doesn't want to spend anymore money. I could understand if it was significantly more, but $21 a night is not a big deal. It almost seems crazy to pass on this good of a deal on GF! :crazy2: Guess I'm lucky I talked him in to the Poly in the first place, considering this trip he wanted to stay at Pop for $300.

^^^^this^^^^

We stayed at GF last month, to knock it off of the list (we are trying to stay at all of the resorts) and we absolutely fell in love!!! I could easily chose GF for all of our future trips....but back to our list we go....:faint:

We love both, but have stayed at the Poly more for various reasons - including the magical deal that includes club level! If I were you I would do the GF to try a different resort. You can't go wrong with either, though!

My DH would agree with your DH. He would choose the Poly. The GF would not appeal to him at all. I, on the other hand, would send you to the Grand in a heartbeat. I love it there.
