We leave in less than a month and I am so torn about which resort to stay at...POLY or FQ????? We have stayed at both and they both are liked in our family. Any thoughts to help this VERY confused mom??
I second that. If you can afford the Poly, why not splurge? You only live once! But, if you are trying to watch your pennies (or budget better so you can go back to Disney again that much sooner)then stay at POFQ. You love it just as much, so why pay extra for the Poly, right? You can always book a meal at Ohana and watch Wishes from their beach one night if you want to.
I can only weigh in on POFQ, which our family absolutely adores, but I know POLY is my wife's dream. But, from a strictly monetary perspective, I know for us, POLY is approx DOUBLE the cost of POFQ, and I keep asking myself, what would my kids remember more, going to POLY, or going to POFQ twice? We are all Disney fanatics, my daughter, who will be four soon, is going on her third trip in four years this August, and it's my 11th trip...
IMO, for the money, POFQ can't be beat. We are going in August with the Free dining plan, and are trying POR for the first time...hope we love it as much as POFQ!
Either way, enjoy your trip, and be glad you are going to the world again...
I cannot express how wonderful it was to be in building 4 of POFQ with two young kids. We had awesome dining options and pool, and everything was so close. I didn't feel guilty walking the 30 seconds it took to refill my mug of soda, or tea, or coffee, while DH stayed in the room with the kids. The bus stop was right behind us. Yet it was still all so quiet and beautiful. I find that the deluxe resorts, though lovely, just aren't as practical with young kids who like quick service options. We stayed at the Beach Club and it took 10 minutes to get my refillable mug drinks and snacks for the kids!
We have stayed at both. Loved the Poly rooms size. The monorail was ok, but not a perfect means of transportation.
For the difference in price, I'd choose FQ. Love the size of the resort. Great proximity to all 4 parks. Boat to DD. Hot tub! Nice food court. Love the walk to RS just for a change of pace. We never waited more than 10 minutes for a bus to or from the resort. I don't think I can rationalize the additional cost for the Poly. I suppose I'm glad we tried it, but we are so happy at FQ.
Ooooh! You picked my two favorite resorts! If you can splurge, by all means.. go with Poly! I like splitting my stay so I can enjoy both resorts. Either resort you go with.. you can't go wrong.

Drumroll please......we picked the POLY I have to say I love the theming and even more the monorail....Plus my mom is coming with and she has only ever stayed at the French Quarter and she always wanted to stay at the POLY. It was actually a dream of hers and my dads. We lost my dad in 2006 so it will be bittersweet but I know he will be watching. ...I went to Disney a lot when I was a child but we always stayed offsite. So to be honest for me to be staying on site all these years, and to have options, I feel very humbled....

We will be going back to the Poly in August, I'm jealous that yours is coming up so soon! We absolutely loved the Poly when we went a couple years ago and can't wait to be back!
