Ok...just back from 4 wonderful days at The World with my D'B/F'!! We stayed at CBR...and it was nice, but we both decided that you get what you pay for and that next time we will be staying at a resort on the monorail line. We are both college students...(19 and 20 years old) so we decided that a 10-12 months would be plenty than enough time to save for one of the deluxe resorts. Our problem is....do we stay at Polynesian or Contemporary???? We like both...and cannot decide!!! If anyone could give me your thoughts on both and which one you like better!

While I have never stayed at the Contemporary I have stayed at Poly and it is fabulous. We just got back last week from a stay at Wilderness Lodge. It was great but I missed the Poly. I just think the Poly is so relaxing and beautiful. They are currently updating the rooms and have recently changed the pool area. It is larger and looked really great. We had to make the trip over to Kona to get the Tonga Toast. You also get a spectacular view of the Magic Kingdom and Wishes. Anyway I hope this helps.

We have always stayed at the Poly Concierge and have loved it. However, due to the ages of our girls, we're staying at the Contemporary (never stayed there) next June for close proximity to MK, etc.

I truly believe that you can't go wrong with either resort - the monorail is a big plus that the WL can't offer. We've stayed there before and got tired of being smashed into the boat for the trips back and forth to MK.

I have stayed at both, and prefer the Poly. I think it is much more relaxing than the CR. Also, since it is just the two of you, it would certainly be more romantic. I think the tranportation at the Poly is better too. But, the wing rooms at CR are so much less expensive (and they are HUGE).

I have never stayed at the Poly. We stayed at the CR in May. We had a more affordable North Wing room, first floor. I can tell you the 5 minute wlak to the MK is a BIG PLUS. Also the monorail to Epcot was great. Cosidering the MK and Epcot are our favorite parks we would definitely stay at the CR again. On second thought the poly has alot of transportation advantages as well. I'm sure you will love wherever you go. :flower:

Both resorts have similar advantages. The Contemporary has a much closer view of the MK (if you are paying for that view) but the views at the Polynesian are great from more than just their lagoon view rooms. I would not use the dining options as a reason for either since we find it easy to eat at any of the resorts on the monorail when staying at another monorail resort. The Contemporary does have quick walking access to the MK but some people find the boat ride from the Polynesian to be a fun and relaxing ride of its own.
I will say that the Polynesian has the quickest access to Epcot since you can walk right to the TTC and get on the monorail to Epcot. I find that to be a bonus because I like to go to Epcot the most out of the parks.
I think it mostly comes down to the price you can get and the atmosphere you want.

Here is some info on the Polynesian.

We stayed at the Contemporary last year and I really didn't care for it. We stayed in the North Garden Wing through Shades of Green and I found it really worn down. If it weren't for the fantastic over flow rate we received I would have been really disappointed. In all fairness, the Contemporary is now getting an (in my opinion) much needed renovation so hopefully you wouldn't have the same problems we did if you do decide to stay there.

That aside, we just didn't find the Contemporary to be very "vacation-y" if you know what I mean. Of course the monorail was special, but it didn't have that resort feel that the Polynesian does. At the Polynesian you really feel as if you are transported to another land. It's very exotic and relaxing. We didn't get that feeling at the Contemporary. For us, the Polynesian was a place to look forward to going at the end of a long eventful day, while the Contemporary was just another place to sleep for the night.

Enjoy your stay whatever you decide! :)
