I am currently booked for the Polynesian late August but need to rebook. Looking at July (unfortunately my only option for dates so I don't lose my borrowed points). I have stayed at BLT and loved the rooms. We had a split stay that vacation, so never ended up using the pool there or at the Contemporary. We have never stayed at the Poly, so haven't used the pool there either. Considering it will be July, the pool and pool bar are a major factors... assuming they are up and running:) I'm leaning toward the Polynesian because I like the looks of the pool and pool bar there best, but I am basing that on pictures alone. One final factor are the restaurants. California Grill and The Wave are two of our favorites. Obviously a quick monorail from the Poly but wasn't sure if being a resort guest at BLT gives us preference for dining reservations there? I thought I remembered reading that somewhere within all the ever changing updates, but I obviously I could be mistaken:)

We prefer BLT for the easy access to MK, and we generally enjoy the resort itself. Have only experienced Poly as a hotel guest, but liked it there too. Not sure about comparing the pools. I think there are no wrong answers here.:earsboy:

Totally agree, I'm sure we can't go wrong with either:)

I should add that if there are small children in strollers in your party, the ability to walk to BLT at the end of the day is a huge perk. No waiting for a bus or monorail.:)

We were in the garden wing and I thought it was a loooonnnng walk from MK thru contemporary down to our room. I liked the Poly better, but the resort is big their too. I guess DVC you would be closer in the BLT. But the walk would probably be better than waiting for transportation at end of day.

I would go with the Poly if there are more than 2 of you going. BLT studios are very small
Just two of us this time! But thank you for the heads up. We've only stayed in a two bedroom there so would be a first time in a studio at BLT.

I second this!

Other personal opinions: I like the dining and shopping options at BLT/CR better. I like not having to wait for transportation to get to and from MK when at BLT. I like the atmosphere at Poly better. It's just more relaxing to me. At Poly, I like being able to walk along the sidewalk between the hotel and the water and seeing MK just off in the distance. I like being able to walk to the TTC and hop on the monorail to EP or the ferry to MK.

If the pools are important to you, you might want to consider Wilderness Lodge/CCV/BRV. I really liked the new "quiet" pool when we were there. I was surprised at how big it was.

Have a great trip!

Thank you, I didn't consider the transportation factor!

Couples trip this time! But yes that is HUGE when you're traveling with little ones in strollers.

Thank you!! I appreciate all the info! I've been a member since 2008 and stayed at many of the DVC resorts, but find myself picking the same 2-3 every trip. I haven"t done the Wilderness Lodge/CCV/BRV or the Poly so all helpful information. Thanks again:)

DW and I do fine in a BLT Studio. We've doen the 1 & 2 BR's at BLT also. DW would love a 1BR every time, but the Studios work well for us. BLT is awesome.

Thinking pools, I would choose the Poly. The pools at BLT seem to be in full sun, little shade and lots of cement. If you like the sun okay but the sun in July is brutal. Have stayed at both. Other than being able to walk to MK from BLT, I would pick Poly because it seems more relaxing, at least to us.

Poly studio is really nice. Two bathrooms! The resort is beautiful. Regarding the pools, Poly's has more going for it than either BLT or Contemporary. I'm an owner at BLT and we love it, but that pool is really underwhelming :bored:
I'd go Poly!

California Grill and The Wave are two of our favorites.

CG will not be open. The Wave and (wait for it) Chef Mickey family style will be your table service options. If it’s just a couples trip I would prefer Poly for Kona, the pool, the bars, and the atmosphere. Monorail trip is not that bad. But next April (long time from now) our family trip is to BLT.

You May have already decided but I would go with Poly hands down. Pool bar and atmosphere is so much better at Poly. Poly gives off such a beautiful vibe, between the music, the flowers, the trees. Enjoy which ever you choose.

As an owner at BLT, we prefer the Poly studios and pool. BLT pool is underwhelming, studios are small. If you're thinking "romantic date atmosphere", the Poly is the way to go! Have fun, and stay safe.

I love the Poly - it’s Home so I may be biased. But the pools are both fantastic, the atmosphere is great, and there are several transportation options. The studios are very spacious and the balconies are large. It hits all the boxes for us!
