my family is going to dw the last week of september. i am trying to decide between the poly and beach club. i have a 4 year old son, who loves the pool and sand. i'm just not sure how important it is to be on the monorail. also, we will be celebrating his 4th birthday there, so if anyone has any neat ideas for his day, i would really appreciate the advice!

I haven't stayed at either hotel, but have been there for meals (etc.) and from what I know about them, your best bet would be Poly for a few reasons....

1. Absolutly Drop Dead Awesome Pool!

2. Being on the monorail (easy access to MK and Epcot)

3. Over-sized rooms

Im also a fan of Beach Club, but imo, its location isn't the best for your case (I don't think your son will be intrested in Epcot)

Hello!

We were in the same position as you - debating between the BCV and Poly...we are currently booked at my first choice (VWL) because we have more room there, but DH is hinting we may call and change to Poly. We will also be there at the end of Sept, for DS's 4th birthday,

Why Poly over BC? We love the BC - but for our little guy we wanted to stay at a MK resort. The pool at BC is unbelievable, but the Poly has a fantastic pool and the convenience of the monorail and being able to just hop over to MK any time really weighs in for us more than SAB alone.

You'll be happy, no matter what. But I think a 4 year old celebrating a birthday would love a MK resort. A few other reasons? Wishes from the beach (or your room), the Electric Light parade every night, close proximity to Chef Mickeys (a must for our DS) and some other great character meals, and you can bop over to MK and back for a swim or rest any time. The walk from Epcot to BC isn't bad by any means, but it's a huge park and you could be in for quite a walk if DS (or you) are really tired.

Again - both gorgeous, wonderful resorts. No way you can make a bad choice.

And I think I just talked myself into switching to the Poly....Hmmmmm :teeth:

(PS - I'll PM you with some ideas for the b'day and what we're doing just to get you thinking!)

My vote is for the Polynesian ... if MK is what you're most interested in you can't beat the location. The ease of the monorail and the ferry launch to MK is undeniably convenient. Beach Club has a great pool, but the volcano pool is also nice and well-themed. In my opinion, location alone is a huge reason to choose Polynesian over Epcot-based hotels ... especially when your kids are young.

Good luck

I love both properties but if I had to make a choice, I would say the Polynesian Resort. If the choice was between the Polynesian and the Yacht Club, the answer would have been different.

The pool areas of both resorts are wonderful, plenty of sand and fun for everyone. We eat most of our evening meals in World Showcase so when we stay at the Polynesian there is alot more walking and time involved to eat but to us, it's worth it.

Both resorts are great and you'll have a good time no matter what.

I love the Poly. I've read some folks think that SAB at BC can be overwhelming for poor parents if you've got little ones. I didn't have any small ones with me when I stayed at YC. The pool at the Poly is great-you can watch Wishes from the pool or just the castle changing colors at night.

Tough Decision! :scratchin

These are two of my favorite WDW resorts. With the age of your DS I think I would choose the POLY. There are merits of each resort. Good luck with your decision....you won't go wrong with either.

Why not do both? Three days at the BC and four days at the Poly. Then arrange your trip so that you do the Epcot and MGM days while you are at the BC and the MK and AK days while you are at the Poly. We did that on a trip a few years ago.

My vote is for Poly. It has the best overall transportation of all the resorts, which is pretty important with a 4 YO. Also, it has the best transportation between MK and EPCOT (being next door to the TTC) of the resorts. Of all the parks, I bet you'll spend 60% or more of your time in MK and EPCOT.

We stayed at BC last August. While it was great to be able to walk in the IG entrance of EPCOT, or take an admittedly slow boat to MGM, it's just not the same with a little one as being able to literally boat or monorail right to the MK entrance. When our girls get older, we may stay in the EPCOT area resorts more often. Until then, though, it will probably be Poly or WL every time.

We just got back yesterday from four nights at the Poly and because of the MK view we thought it was so much more Disney. We loved every moment of our trip! The Poly is just more magical for me.

Another vote for the Polynesian! :sunny:

There is something very surreal about swimming in the volcano pool, seeing the castle, THEN seeing the fireworks over the castle!! Unbelievable! :goodvibes

I think you and your little guy will love the Polynesian. It's "Disney" 1000%!

another final vote for the poly.

mostly because of DS age

now 5 years from now I will tell you to move on to Epcot side.
MGM & Epcot will be much more appealing to him :cool1:

have great trip  :Pinkbounc  :Pinkbounc :cheer2:

We just got back from the BC (7/16 - 22) and we've stayed at the Poly 3 times.

The Poly is our choice, but you couldn't go wrong either way.

BEACH CLUB:

Best pool and slide at WDW, bar none.
Great location - Very short walk to EPCOT and easy boat ride to MGM.
Character Breakfast at Cape May is very good.
Board Walk just around the lake, short walk is neat. Had the best meal at the Flying Fish at the B.W. that we've had in a very long time.
Bus wait times for other parks - MK, AK Typhoon Lagoon, Disney Quest seemed to be a little long. Several times over 30 minutes.

Polynesian:

The Monorail is fun, conveniant, worth the stay alone.
The Polynesian resort is a much nicer facility than the B.C.
The rooms are nicer also. My wife gets up EARLY to get ready. The dressing area has a door that can be closed so she dosen't wake up the kids. BC has no separate dressing area. Completely open to room. Rooms seem to be a little smaller at the B.C.
The pool is great. Has a very good volcano slide. Daughter loved it.
Character Breakfast is very good also.
Kona Grill is very good.
We love the atmosphere at the Poly. Best at DW in our opin. 10 year old daughter prefers it also.

Like I said, you really can't go wrong at either resort.
