We are going to "splurge" and stay at a Deluxe for 2 nights on our trip in December.

Which would you choose, Polynesian or Beach Club. We probably won't do a park those days and enjoy the resort and pool.

Beach Club has Stormalong Bay but I like the location and decor of Polynesian (and I think it might be more laid back).

Which is more holiday decorated?

So which would you choose, and which view would you book?

Thanks

...but fabulous deliberating!!:D

Tuvulu...lagoon view, first floor...quiet, fireworks, private (meaning no one uses it! - except us!) beach, watching the lgoon parade from bed:eek: , quick walk to volcano pool, and Ceremonial House, Cinderella's castle, "just like" being in Hawaii, ....can you tell I could go on and on?

Aahhh, but the Beach Club...

Good luck with your decision!

That's a tough choice. They are both great! :) If the parks aren't a facor then look at the restaurants and other emenities that are important to you. If swimming is #1 then I'd pick BC, but if it were me I'd choose the Poly. :earsgirl: I love the resort, I love the restaurants, you can watch the EWP at night, see the fireworks, enjoy the beach area, and their pool and slide are really great too. ::yes::

Just returned from a split stay at BC and Poly. For us it would be, hands down, the Poly. The grounds and the proximity to MK, the electric water parade, more laid back feeling, wonderful lobby, nice pools. We stayed in Samoa, Rm 1604, right next to the pool. I am spoiled and will have a hard time staying anywhere else.

BC was very nice - kids loved the pool, but we just felt like we were at a hotel at the BC, but felt like we were home at the Poly.

Well, I think you'll be happy either way BUT

I would choose the Beach Club. It's actually my favorite resort. You said you wouldn't be going to the parks those days so I definitely recommend the Beach Club. Stormalong Bay is enough reason. But, there's more. The boardwalk area is bustling with fun. You can rent a surrey, boat around Crescent Lake. visit the Swan and Dolphin. Play minature golf over at Fantasia. Shop. Dine. The Epcot resort area is brimming with things to do that are non-park!

We love the CM's at YC and BC. Never stayed at the Poly, although we have visited there for various reasons. I think it's nice but I think you'll have much more to do over at the Epcot area.

We've stayed at both...BC a few times for short stays and the Polynesian well over 20 times for longer stays. For a resort only stay I would pick the Polynesian. It feels like a resort while BC is just another hotel although SAB is very cool.

The rooms are noticeably larger. There are three beaches with hammocks and swings. You can watch the fireworks and Electrical Water Pageant from the beaches. You can rent boats and bikes here too but have two much larger lakes to venture on.:boat: The whole resort feels more relaxed and less congested to me. Captain Cooks is open 24 hours a day. Kona is great for all three meals and so many other great restaurants are a monorail ride away. We've not had dinner at 'Ohanna but lots of people love it.

You can ride around on the monorail and shop at GF and CR. I think the monorail resorts have the greatest variety of shops in WDW resorts. You can hop over to the MK and without entering, take a bus to any other resort if you wanted to. You can ride on the launches from the dock at the Polynesian or ferry from the TTC. You can take a boat to FW (via MK) or walk to the TTC and catch a bus there where you can enjoy that resorts grounds.

The CMs at the Polynesian are very friendly and relaxed. Many have worked there for years and really know how to spread the magic.

At night when the Tiki torches are lit, it is so beautiful. And you can gaze across the lake and see the castle change colors.

I have stayed at BWV & YC and love the Epcot area. They are nice hotels BUT...then I stayed at the Poly last year and fell in love with the place. Like others have said it is a resort not just a hotel. I can't wait to get back there!

There is nothing like being on the beach at night at the Poly watching the EWP and the fireworks with the tiki torches lit all around you.

Reading all of your posts on the Poly is making me so excited to stay there. After reading some negative posts, I'm glad I finally read a few good ones. I can't wait to see the Tiki torches at night- only I have almost a year to wait! :(

They are both excellent resorts! We absolutely love the feel of the Poly. I've never stayed at BC, but having visited it plenty, I think it too is a magnificent resort! (We'll probably stay there next.) If all you want to do for those days is not go to any of the parks, than both of these are good decisions. BC has the boardwalk area to explore, as Poly has the MK area (such as CR, GF, and WL) to explore. I do know that our trip to the Poly was one of the best ever. What ever you decide, have a fantastic trip!

Are you just making reservations for Dec 2003?
Or are you holding reservations at both?

If the first, then depending on your dates you may be lucky to get either one. Some resorts are fully booked on many Dec dates. Don't wait another day to make reservations! If the second, please choose quickly and release the other reservation so someone else can use it!

I prefer the Polynesian but both are fine resorts.

Thanks for all your replies!

We decided to go with the Polynesian.

No I did not have 2 rooms on hold, in fact I didn't have any and just called this morning to make my reservation at the Poly.

Thanks again for all the great information everyone :earsgirl:
