So I am going to Disney Feb 8th to 13th and I keep going back and forth about where I want to try and stay when my 7 month mark comes up (I'm waitlisted for my home resort VGF). Originally my top 3 were 1. Poly (always been a dream) 2. BCV and 3. BLT....

What I've been going back and forth in my head about is if the Poly DVC will be as awesome as I've built up or if I will be disappointed. I am sure there will still be some construction going on whether or not its intrusive or not idk. I also have heard that there are obnoxious boat horns and the views aren't what they used to be.

So I've been thinking if I should wait to try Poly and put BCV as my number 1 since I've never stayed at an Epcot resort before and that might be a neat experience. The only thing that scares me about BCV is that they seem to have been dragging their feet with the refurb and I really really really don't want to stay in an old room... also I've heard nightmares about the busses to MK or AK as well as the views being nothing to write home about.

I know that most people will comment that its really up to me but I want to hear what you guys think about both resorts :D I'm an indecisive person and hearing reviews and suggestions from others really helps me :)

It's just going to be me and my BF and its his first visit. We are gonna plan this as a relaxing vacation.

Thanks guys!!

We stayed at BCV last October and thought it was lovely. Awesome pool! We were travelling with two 2-year-olds who didn't care for the bus ride back and forth to MK, but if it hadn't been for them, I didn't have any complaints about the bus service. They ran at regular intervals and the waits weren't unreasonable. I think our view was of the quiet pool (we didn't request a particular view). Good luck with your waitlist. Our waitlist for VGF came through in less than a week, so it does happen :)

Haven't had a chance to stay at Poly yet, but as they don't have 1BRs (my typical reservation), I'm not sure if I'll bother. There is still some ongoing construction there, so it might or might not affect your feel about the resort. BCV is a lovely resort, and I wouldn't worry too much about getting an outdated room--we had one a few months ago and it was fine. Did it need upgrading? Yes, but it's not as though the furnishings were terrible, just a bit worn and anachronistic. The pool is superb, of course, though during that time of year it can be a toss up whether the weather will promote swimming. Certainly, the closeness to Epcot, the boardwalk area being nearby, and relative proximity to DHS (we don't mind the walk) all make a vote in its favor. On the other hand, if you want the proximity to MK and the ability to hop on the monorail, then BLT is a good choice. I was surprised at how much I've enjoyed my two stays there. Both times, our view was of the lake (overlooking the pool), and it was much better than I'd anticipated. Gave a whole new meaning to watching the EWP. And watching Wishes from the TOWL is spectacular with very easy access since you'd be staying there. Not truly knowing what you seek, based on my own particular set of experiences, and seeing that it's your BF's first trip, I'd give BLT a very slight edge, followed by BCV, with Poly being last. Good luck!

The refurb at BCV should be complete by your trip. Don't let that be part of your decision making. Having never stayed at Poly (but dine there every trip) I can't offer you much of an opinion other than its a beautiful resort and close to MK. BCV is our home resort and we absolutely love it. We enjoy walking into World Showcase at night for dinner or drinks around the world. We love the Boardwalk too. The entire Epcot resort area is awesome. Nothing beats walking to two parks. Good luck with your decision.

All 3 resorts have great advantages for being near at least 1 park.

We own at BLT and PVB. Have stayed at BCV a few times (most recent was last September).

BCV great for Epcot/DHS. While it doesn't have a view like BLT, BWV (BW view), or PVB lake view. We actually like the pool view at BCV.

BLT, we like lake and theme park views. We have found standard view to be hit or miss. Whenever we walk across the skybridge, we are always looking at MK or the lake. Great views.

After staying at PVB, the bungalows didn't bother me as much as I expected. We were 3rd floor Moorea lake view and could easily see over the bungalows. First floor lake view will be hit or miss on how much they can see of the lake (or if they can see the castle). For me, I loved walking to/from Moorea to the pool/GCH along the beach. I don't think that will ever become boring for me. The boat horns didn't bother me. However, the ferry horns were an issue. I believe our room had some sound proofing issues, but I don't think this exists in all rooms. I suspect a worker (or team of workers) didn't do their job that day. As you mentioned, don't expect all the Poly construction to be done. They are way behind on the East pool. Tikiman's expecting construction not to be completed until summer next year.

Each person is different. What we like may not be what you like. It really is a personal preference.

If something like a rehab or construction schedule is a concern to you, it may be wise to opt for BLT because it's the least likely that it will have construction at that time.

Thanks for the great suggestions guys! I know I will get to stay at all resorts at some point but since this is my BFs first visit I want it to be be as awesome as possible so I can hopefully convince him its worth coming back to more lol

His only concern is the bed, he still has pretty significant back pain from our vacation in April from sleeping on a soft bed and then a sofa bed. So im hoping whatever resort I pick has a firm mattress for him so he can enjoy the vacation rather than be miserable.

We had the misfortune of being at BCV when they were in the process of changing out their mattresses resort wide. Almost positive we were the last people to sleep on the mattress. It was easily the worst mattress I have slept on. I played sports on a budget, I spent many nights sleeping on the floor when the team traveled. I can honestly say the floor was better than that mattress. It sagged badly and tilted to the side.

Because of that incident and your mentioning BFs bed experience, I would go with either BCV (assuming rehab is done) or PVB because they should have the newest mattresses.
When BLT opened, their mattresses were great. It's coming up on 6 years. I don't think they have swapped them out. The mattresses there were good quality so they may be holding up. well. I have not been at BLT since last September, so I can't say for certain. One thing I've learned since joining DVC is to beware that resorts can get rundown if it's been many years since a rehab has been done.

PVB, early May 2015, the mattress was great. Reminds me of the mattresses at VGF and when BLT was new.

Based on BCV full rehab, those should be brand new mattresses.

Good luck with your decision.
