Poly Oasis Pool Seating

It is disgusting when the ducks leave presents in the pools, just like it as disgusting when toddlers do it. It also is a reason for the pool to be shut down and have all the water filtered for a couple of hours. I would report the incident to the lifeguard.

I think it is a good idea to charge for the Cabanas. All upscale resorts charge for cabana use. The chair reserving is a problem everywhere, but at Disney it is especially rude because they will reserve chairs, loungers and tables in the morning, then go to a park and come back in the afternoon to use their chairs. We spend all day at the Lava pool and saw many guests do this.

I mean, the old Poly Cabanas were nicer -- they had power outlets and more enclosure than these do. They also came with more service and some food. On the other hand, they did cost more -- $118 for a half day, I believe, and $200ish for a full day.

And that service is independent of the cabanas.

I just don't see the cabanas at the pool as a mad money grab. After they removed them at Lava, a lot of people have wanted a cabana option. Oasis is small and has only 3. People were doing insane stuff to try to "reserve" them. It's actually easier on CMs, I expect, to be able to use the cash reservation to enforce, instead of having to deal with "those people moved my towels!" "Those towels were there 3 hours and they were no where around!" etc. etc.

Yeah, they have to prevent campers. People who stick their stuff there and leave, assuming since they put their shoes on a chair the cabana becomes theirs for the day -- even if they only use it for 5 minutes out of the 3 hours their stuff is there.

Another decent option would be something like a 5-min timer. But this requires a monitor. Basically if you put your stuff there and leave, your stuff gets moved aside.

It's kind of funny how entitled people feel about reserving chairs at pools by sticking their shoes on them. Think about if you went to McDonalds and you set your shoes on a chair and walked away. Is that your chair for the day? And nobody should be allowed to clean your mess up because by having deposited articles of clothing nearby makes it yours?

If people wouldn't camp, it wouldn't be necessary. But this is a common problem at all pools, not just the Poly.

I have kids. Germs? I laugh in their face.
Have a few myself, this was in reference to falling into a duck pond when I was little. And just for reference my son got a really bad germ when he was little and almost passed, the infectious disease doctor and the pediatric pulmonologist asked if he had been in contact with any birds first thing.

I definitely wasn't staying in the pool with all that, Donald wasn't there BTW.

These are pretty much just shady spots. None of the normal cabana amenities that an actual upscale resort charges has.

We also loved the Oasis pool better than the lava pool. We loved the bar and food there as well as the drink station convenience. I find their charge for the cabanas relatively reasonable and I would consider that because we are pasty white. My only complaint about the pool is their lack of seating. The pool deck is quite large and could accommodate more chairs and loungers.

Oasis pool is very nice, ducks are very cute, I'm not happy about having to pay for shade...

Are the cabanas somehow roped off? How would you know they are for "rent"? From what I remember, they are just a roof covered area, so I'm not sure
how it could be modified to be rented.

We prefer this pool too. There was a fabulous bartender there last May who kept us laughing.

I expect they will add signs on the tables like they do for cabanas at Aulani. They don't rope them off at Aulani either.

If you need to pay for a seat at the pool, what's next pay toilets?

No, first you have to pay for your time to actully get in the pool ( and no double dipping) once you get out you have to pay again.

Yes, roped off and signs on the tables stating that they need to be reserved. It's very obvious.

I'd love to see a picture. I think this would really detract from the overall look and feel of the pool. Aren't these the only shaded areas at this pool? The roofs are quite large, aren't they? This seems like a money grab with no concern for esthetic and the type of consumer that uses this pool. Before you know it, there will be meters on the loungers at all the pools. I am now even more disappointed that they scrapped the DVC pool plans at PBV as I feel like as a time share owner I don't want to be nickel and dimed or be excluded from lounging in the shade and relative quiet of the closest pool. So glad we decided not to add on here. I would be letting DVC know this is unacceptable if I owned here. You are paying at lot upfront and for dues to not be able to sit in shade at the pool closest to your villa.
