Poly - no availability late Oct?

We decided we want to rent points to stay at Poly this year, and we're hoping to go late Oct. From what I've read Poly availability has been good at the 7 mth window lately. However when I tried to make the Rez thru a broker I've used before he said Poly is booking immediately at 8 am and it would be impossible to get two studios. We are flexible with our dates, but I can't see availability at other resorts or dates - we would be okay with two studios or a one bedroom at VGF, maybe BLT, and a two bedroom at Jambo (not Kidani) in early or late Oct. Anothet option would be to try to book the two studios at Poly in early to mid Nov. Would you try to book another Resort for Oct (if any of those are even available) or wait to try to book Poly in Nov? Thanks!

During Food & Wine, this has been true.

You won't get two studios at VGF. Not a chance at 7 months in October. A 1BR is more likely.

I think Poly will continue to book at 8AM through the end of Food & Wine.

You most likely need to reserve during the home resort priority period in order to get any of those......and you might be too late for any of them as we are within 7 months for the early-mid Oct. Your issue will remain needing 2 studios at Poly and trying to get someone to book it right at 8am. Is it possible? Perhaps but I don't know that a broker will be able to work that well with an owner to get it done. Working direct with an owner might help but it still might not happen.

Poly was going along fine from Jan to late Sep when its studios were about as easy to get as those at OKW at 7 months out. Then we hit DVC's high demand season starting end of Sep (and which runs to marathon weekend in Jan) and the studios started to disappear fast daily at 8 a.m., 7 months out. Moreover, it is getting worse as now even days beyond the seven month window are starting to disappear. You may have a chance if the DVC member from whom you rent is on line at exactly 8 a.m. at 7 months out and, just as important, his computer is faster in communicating with the DVC reservation system than anyone else's computer. Nov is not likely to be better except that the time from Nov 13 to 19 may be more possible.

As to VGF studios, most dates between late Sep and marathon weekend in Jan have been gone since 11 months out. The 1BRs have also been filling for majority of days per week before the 7 month window hits. You will also have problems at BLT although chances there are somewhat better if seeking lake view. Moreover, a 2BR at Jambo is definitely not a sure thing.

I have been tracking the 7 month window for this time of year for several years now and it was bad for finding things 5 years ago and it has gotten worse since to the point that this year so far in Oct, SSR has been the only sure thing at 7 months out. AKV Jambo has had issues for all room sizes except 1BRs have seen more days open than other rooms sizes. Even AKV Kidani standard studios and 2BR lock-offs (and sometimes savanna view) have had some days per week filled before 7 months out. Moreover, OKW studios have even been filled some days bewfore 7 months out.

In essence, your best chance for Poly appears to be to find a Poly owner who can make a reservation for you before seven months out, and thus before owners of other resorts can reserve.

I just booked 2 Lake View Studios for Oct 15 to 19 the other day at my 7 mo window, so there is hope. I was online right at 8 am, though. I believe some of those days are now booked solid.

Is the trend such that you are more and more likely going to need to buy where you don't mind staying for dvc high season (sept-January)?

Looks like it...

I know when I was swapping at 7 months last week, unless there were rooms stuck in limbo, by 8:30 the studio availability even at AKL was weak (Kidani Savannah view only). Poly had holes for my dates by 8:30 as well. Given that a studio at BWV or BCV are basically dreams at 7 months for October, it seems to me that Poly is getting some of the demand traditionally seen by BLT for the time period, given that Poly studios are larger than BLT and sleep 5, and arguably are more convenient for Epcot for a F&W + party at MK trip.

Realize that the Poly is new, so a lot of people want to "try it", who do not own there.

Also it is only 40% declared I think, so 360 studios right now is only 144 available to the dvc people.

Any you are talking DVC high season.

I booked my VGF studio for october at 11 months, at 8AM.

VGF studios are like gold.

Frankly, I suspect a lot of VGF resale contracts since studios are so hard to get, and eventually people just will give up, or sell since they can not get what they want

Brokers don't want to deal with that, so when availability is disappearing fast, they won't bother - too much risk of complaints (someone else got a room, the person you set me up with wasn't on line early enough) - what works with you for your points is difficult for brokers to work with.

Disney Vacation Development has declared 62.8% of the Polynesian Villas & Bungalows for the DVC inventory. Currently 218 studios and 16 bungalows have been declared. That leaves 142 studios and 4 bungalows undeclared.

Or as he says!
Hopefully when the Poly newness factor wears off, and 360 studios are available, maybe things will open up at 11 months

Well, less about complaints but more about high demand + requirements.

They need someone who can book both from one set of points, to avoid a half-booking where one owner gets a studio, but the second owner doesn't, so the renter's request for two is screwed up. Plus, then getting everyone on the phone to do the Traveling With linkage.

Rental brokers are fine in situations that aren't dog-eat-dog at 8AM, which is to say: Not for AKL Value or Club, not for VGF studios, not for BCV/BWV for F&W, and, apparently, for fall Poly at 7 months currently.
