Hi all! I've been a lurker for quite a long time, now, but finally have my own question to post!!

We're booked in a LV room at the Poly for 6 nights in November, but I've been checking out the different rates & realized that it's nearly the same price for GV Concierge! We've never stayed concierge before, and don't know if it's worth giving up our view! What would you do?? HELP!!

This is just my opinion but I would stick with the LV. It is so AWESOME. We just loved being able to sit on the balcony and look out onto the castle, espic at night when the fireworks were going off.
It was so magical. :bounce:

As nice as the LV is, I would pick concierge. The concierge at the Poly is my absoluet favorite. It was what got us hooked:D
The conveniece alone is priceless. However, if the view is an absolute for you, than it gets no better than Poly LV.

I ditto MOMTOMOOTOO's sentiments. I've always wondered why people would pay the same amount (or very nearly) for a LV when they could experience concierge--even if it is GV. The lounge is there for the view AND you have the entire beach area for that!

When you have very little ones and are back in your room and heading them to bed by 8:00 p.m., I can understand the desire for the view. When you're on your own or out at the parks at night--don't get it--I'm asleep by the time I get back to my room! ;)

Anyway--go for concierge--you won't be disappointed!

Hi Gardenview concierge was fabulous for us. Never tried it before but splurged for our 25th family vacation.

Having easy access to breakfast, snacks, drinks, water bottles, soda, juice, fresh fruit, (apples, bananas, pears, oranges) fresh baked huge cookies in the afternoon , the dinner snacks can easily be a light supper, then cakes, cookies, squares, juice, coffee, tea wine at 8p.m.

I felt the food they put out was very healthy. We loved it and are hooked. Especially if you have a family, it really is nice being able to go and choose a snack when you want. The lounge staff were great.

You can watch the castle in the concierge lounge in the hawaii building, one of the best views going. Or go to the beach in the evening with your snacks and sit on lounges and watch the castle change colours, and the water show at night. I would recommend it highly.

Go to tikiman's polynesian site and the food offerings are there.

Deb.

Plutes,
just curious where you're seeing these rates. I'm looking for October and, at least on Expedia, they're not showing ANY rooms for GV concierge. It's either GV, LV or LV concierge.

I agree GC concierge would be a good deal if it was the same price as LV but I just can't find it.

If you are only checking Expedia, it may not offer what is truly available at WDW. Perhaps the Expedia inventory does not have this category of room. If you want true rates and availability, contact WDW directly to check rates and availability. You could also have Dreams Unlimited (the travel agents affiliated with this site) provide you with a quote for your dates. Dreams (DU) also continues to check for discounted rates on your behalf.

Anyway. . .keep your eyes open and, as I said on your post, check Mousesavers frequently for discounts during your vacation period.

Thank you, everyone, for the replies! We still haven't made up our minds definitively, but we're LEANING toward concierge. I tend to agree with you, Tess - we're usually asleep before our heads hit the pillows!! Everytime we've splurged for the better view @ WDW, we've always regretted it later, simply because we were always too tired to truly enjoy it!!

Capt_coconut - I'm going only by the rack rates right now - LV is $385/night & GV Concierge is $390/night. I haven't even checked for availability yet, as we haven't quite made up our minds. Even if we can't get it, I'll still be THRILLED to stay at the Poly - WHEREVER the room is!! It's DH's 'dream' resort!

We stayed GV concierge at the Poly. in early May. 3 adults and 2 children, and we all agreed that it was well worth it. You can see everything from the lounge or sit on the beach for the view. We REALLY enjoyed the snacks and beverages. Since the prices are soo close you'll definately end up saving money on drinks alone.

I would go with GV Conceirge and I'll tell you why the view we had from the garden view room was great of the quiet pool and there were ducks everyday, no we couldn't see the castle but the big difference on our trip was that my daughter got very sick and had to go to the hospital, she had strep, and ear infection and had the virus that was going around, which made her dehydrated, so after 2 days at the hospital when she was sent back to the room conceirge had a bunch of balloons for her and they went out of their way to get us as much water, popsicles and whatever she was willing to eat they found it for us, and being able to go to the lounge and get the food and bring it back was a big life saver for the rest of us and we were never gone very long just a walk down the hall because she wouldn't let us leave her I will always go with service now and not the view.
