Has anyone been recently? If so, how was it (food, show, etc)? I haven't been since I was a kid but my DH wants to try some new places on our Feb trip and picked this for his birthday. If we don't like the food, what are the chances of us getting the kids nuggets if we ask? Thanks for your help.

me & my fiance went to the luau in 2003 & the show has changed since years past, we were very disappointed & even left half way in. i would recommend ohanas instead, poly buffet with skewers, pineapple, rice, etc. along with that great poly ambiance/theming & entertainment like hula, buffet dinner is like $24pp.

I had mentioned Ohana but other than eating there for character breakfast DH is not interested at all. The kids activities during dinner are a bit too much for him plus it looks like the food is a bit different from the luau (luau looks more appetizing to him). I really want to see the hula dancers and the flame wielding guys.

We went in 2004, and it wasn't nearly as good as in previous trips. We won't be going back again!

We just went there this past feb and weren't that impressed wiht it. The food was good, baked chicken, bbq ribs, potato rice sweet bread. This lava cake that sparks is for desert. Honestly it was not worth it. Being tht it is a two punc meal it was not worth giving up two things. since Lilo and stitch it ahs some songs from there but the play itself is pretty cheesey. Food was good but know great.

Hope,
It's nice to hear that someone liked the food. I'm sure I'll enjoy the show. I like that cheesy/corny stuff. We just love HDDR but wanted to try some new things this trip to go along with trying a new resort.

I was there this past January and also in 2000. I thought the show was better this time and the food was also good. The food is about what you would expect when they serve hundreds at one time. The dinner/show is about 2 hours long so it is alot of sitting but I will be going again this December.
