Poly Luau

I hope someone can answer my question out there! If we book the 8:00 Poly Luau show will we be able to see the MK fireworks from Luau Cove? Or would it be better to book the earlier show and "hang out" at the Poly and see them from the beach? Also, what is the itinerary for the Luau, eat first then the show or is it all together? What is the total length of time from start to finish? I am obsessing about what to do the first night we are at WDW and since this is the only night to see the MK fireworks while we will be there I really don't want to miss it!
