We are staying at the Poly :cool1: in late March and were wondering if it was worth the $ for the luau. We don't want to use the extra TS credits (already doing the Cinderella Castle dinner) so we would have to pay out of pocket. It's not cheap, so I was hoping that if anyone here has recently experienced it could you please give your opinions? Thanks!!

I would say no. The food has gone downhill since we were first there on our honeymoon in '93. the show is fun, but O'hana's is also really fun for the kids, the food is better, and the cost is less. I say skip the luau and enjoy Cinderella's Royal Table, and O'hana.

no no no no no - only do it if you are on the food plan and need to get rid of some sit down meals

No way. Save yourself the poor food and mediocre entertianment. Please.

Really? Not worth it? We just decided today what our next adventure would be and we picked the Poly for Dec2010. One of our first ideas was to do the luau the night we arrive, sort of a special welcome. For category 1 seating, it would be close to $200 for the 4 of us. I'm disappointed to see this thread. I'll be interested to see what others think too. Not that I don't trust the previous 4 posters......;)

As a long time WDW and Polynesian vet, I'm going to give you the cold, hard truth. IT SUCKS! I feel like that is being nice. The food is just awful - the shrimp are usually mushy and the ribs tough. The show, uh, maybe after a few beers it would be better.

Save your money and do 'Ohana's, it is truly enjoyable. I also love Kona's, FABULOUS food.:)

I just looked at allears.net, and the reviews were universally bad from Sep-Oct 08 and good in Jan 09. Do you think they changed something?

Thank you all SO MUCH for posting your replies. My DH really gets into the themed activities when we vacay, but I had this funny feeling that the extra $200 would be a waste. There have to be some free entertainment they put on every day at the GCH, so we'll check that out.

Again, many thanks!!
