I tried the seaworld/discovery cove site and no hits. Can anyone tell me if they have been to any of these luau dinner shows and which one was preferred. Thanks

We went to the Poly luau last week and we loved it. It was just me and my two sons (7 and almost 9 yrs old). The 9 yr old thought he wouldn't enjoy it...but they both loved it!
I've never been to the Sea World luau so I can't compare. I guess it depends on scheduling, really. Would it be easier if you're going to Sea World to just stay there for the luau? What time is the luau there? We did Sea World last year and it didn't take a full day for us to do the park, in fact we left instead of waiting around for another show to start.
I'd imagine the cost is probably comparable for both luaus, too. Sorry....I wasn't much help, was I? ;)

Here's a link to the luau at Sea World. It doesn't give a lot of information but the basics are there. My DH and mother and I went a couple of years ago around the holidays and we really enjoyed it.

When I called for reservations, I asked if we could be seated close to the stage and was told that the night I wanted was almost booked but the following night a table near the stage was available so we booked it for then. We sat right in front of the stage and had a wonderful time. The dancers are fantastic.

To tell you the truth, I don't remember a lot about the food. I usually go to dinner shows for the show and not the food and unless the foods terrible, I don't really remember it. Sad, huh.

I've never been to the Polynesian Luau so I can't compare the two. You can get some information on that one here . If you do a search on Makahiki Luau (which is what the Sea World luau is called), I'm sure you can come up with a lot of information.

Whichever one you decide on, I'm sure you'll have a great time.

Did the Seaworld Laua on my trip to Discovery Cove and the Disney Laua a few year ago. Disney Laua far outshined Seaword Laua. Following is my compare and contrast:

Atmosphere:
Seaworld - boxed off a section of a restaurant, had a cheesy feel
Disney - better location/ area, and felt more authentic

Seaworld - Smaller crowd
Disney - Larger crowd

The Show & Performers:
Seaworld - Entertainers were not into it. You could tell they were just "doing a routine". Even my Dad who is one of the most unobservent persons I know, commented on this. The show & performers seemed second rate. The rhythem section of drums & Hawiian percussion instruments, messed up on numerous occasions throughout the show. That in conjunction with the perception of an "who gives a #$@@ attitude" by the performers really turned us off.

Disney - The cast was much better. The enterainers seemed to enjoy themselves and putting on the production. The routines & performances were flawless.

Food Service & wait staff:
Seaworld - Slow
Disney - Fast & attentive

Food Quality & Presentation:
Seaworld - OK the show was so dark could not see what you were eating.
Disney - OK Seemed like we enjoyed it more, because you could see the food.

Thanks so much for that comparison. I was wondering also which show was preferred more.

Thanks

Thank you so much for the info. My neighbors are going to Disney the same week we are and couldn't decide between to the two shows. I have never been. We are going to the Hoop De du and hope we chose well, its paid for so its a done deal! One more week and I am getting so excited . I just have to pray the kids stay healthy and the colds they have now go away and don't get worse.:( It sounds as if Seaworld is just O.K. but the one at the Poly is better.
Thanks again
Kate

Does anyone know the prices of the Poly luau?

The cost of the Spirit of Aloha Show is $49.01 for adults and $24.99 for children under 12. That includes all taxes and gratuities. So it is the cost of your entire evening.

For the adults, all of the beer, white wine, and red wine you wish is included in the price. For children and non-drinking adults, it includes all the soft drinks, lemonade, iced tea, or coffee.

There is a bar for additional cost if you want a mixed drink.
