I just received an invitation for appetizers and a presentation, along with the optional opportunity to tour the Poly on 7/13 and 9/28. I'm curious if anyone else got the invitation. The 13th was already full by the time I clicked on it.

I'm not sure how targeted this was. We'll actually be staying at the Poly for two different trips on those both days, but leaving before the event on 9/28. I've emailed them to see if I can get on a waitlist for the 7/13 event.

I'm curious if anyone else recived the invite, and, if so, when you got it. I'm surprised that 7/13 filled up so quickly, unless this has been available for a while.

I got the invite, I am at WDW now, but leave on the date they had given me...The 13.

I received the invite this morning also. The email came in around 9:30am and my confirmation came in about 10:18am. I was able to reserve the 13th.

Are there any other dates? I assume you only got the invitation for the dates that you are already going to be there?

Based on my super snooping skills, it looks like they have events on 7/6, 7/13, 8/3, 8/10, 9/7, and 9/28. At least they have webpages up to take reservations for those days.

This event is a marketing event for prospective DVC members. It is not intended for DVC members, though if they do not fill the event, it is possible members might be allowed in each night. The capacity each event is around 300 total people. I have a ton of friends that still work for DVC. It will be interesting to see how many new members they get from this event.

From what I know, it is about 10 min of Polynesian entertainment, (luau dancers), around 15 min or so of DVC presentation, appetizers are served during the above. Disney sales folks are available to sit down with anyone interested in ownership.

Hi Pirate Granny, it's a big mystery what matrix DVC Marketing uses to select certain individuals for these type of events. Generally speaking they are looking for folks that have a pattern of staying on WDW property. Sometimes they are only selecting folks that always stay in deluxe resorts for example. I have no idea what measurements they used for this event. For that matter I usually don't know. :teeth:

Hi Snoop! That's funny. My buddies at DVC said when it was announced to the sales team it was intended for prospects and that members would be allowed only if it wasn't fully booked. Very interesting that DVC Marketing…. :P How many of the rest of ya'll that got the invites are DVC Members? Maybe I should go and check my own email and see if I got it too….

They have had these types of events for every recent resort - BLT, VGF and VGC had something similar all directed at members.

That is correct, Kat4Disney. I live very near Disney and have had opportunity to attend many of these events. But DVC marketing DOES still do some prospect marketing events as well. I was actually at the Poly during one of these new luau events. From talking to friends working the event, at the first one anyway, they mentioned it was mainly focused on prospective members. I can think of very few prospect events that would not include members at some point. Members have always had the first stab at purchasing each new DVC property. :)

Aloha Amw, I think this event invite was probably only sent out to those staying at the Poly, or at least staying on property for the designated dates. Still missing Aulani? I know I am! :cutie:

Haha, stop it!!! You know we are missing Aulani. I watch my daily flipogram with the pictures to the tune of He Lei No Aulani. I just got our 10 days for next summer booked. Just haven't figured out if I want more Aulani days or to island hop. My older son and family want to join us so that will make a difference as to what we do (and alot of my points). I have to wait untilt the 7 month mark to see what I can get for them.

Anyway, I NEVER do get DVC news. I call them all the time and just recently filled out another form about it. Not sure why and then can't seem to figure it out. I actually will be up at Beach Club during the time frame. Hoping to get into the August 11 Beach bash event at Typhoon Lagoon. Was all excited to stay at my use to be favorite resort of Beach Club but Aulani has won our hearts.

It sounds exactly like what some of us were invited to in late January early February. Luau presentation/dancing at the SSR building followed by tours of the model, appetizers and than ice cream, not all in that order. Appetizers were very tasty, plates were tiny. We also got a Poly pin.

:flower3: Ah, Amw, I totally get it. Hawaii stole my heart many years ago. Though we prefer Maui, we think Aulani is a truly extraordinary place and we love it. We will return many times in the years to come, no doubt. :flower:

As to DVC information, do you not get any emails? For instance, i just got one in the last couple of days about a "Wildnerness" adventure at Ft Wilderness. Perhaps your emails are going to spam?? I didn't get an invite to the luau events because our Poly stay was in early May and my next points rez is a GV at OKW in December.

Judique, this event is a lot like that but I don't know if the food will be quite as nice as that was. And I'm pretty sure there's no alcohol like at the SSR/Poly Member events. The event at SSR was a Members event and I heard from lots of other members that they really enjoyed it as well. :) My understanding about these new events is that any attendees that want to see the models can stroll down to Moorea to see the Studio Lakeview models and that the Bungalows will be staffed to tour as well. Sales Guides are present for anyone to become a member (or to add on if already a member).

We got the invitation for the 13th, which is the arrival night for our vacation at the Wilderness Lodge. We received an invite in the mail AND via email. We are not current DVC members.

Editing to add...it clearly said on both the paper invite and the email that it was a sales presentation with the luau as a bonus. We probably would have gone if we weren't getting in so late that night. I just tossed it into the trash!
