Poly - Hot Tub??

When we were planning a trip 2 years ago it didn't. So, unless they've added one, no. Perhaps someone has a recent update.

The Poly is my favorite resort but it does BITE that they don't have a hot tub!

I wouldn't use them if they did. Besides parents letting their little kids hang out in them all night, there is the disgusting germs to think about. Didn't you read the thread awhile back about someone happening upon a couple going at it in the WL hot tub? Gross! No thanks. I'll forgo the public hot tubs. LOL!

As of last Friday, there are still no hot tubs at the Polynesian.

OMG Skiwee1!!!!   , I did not read the thread about a couple going at it! I think I will stick to my hot tub at home and use the pool when I don't see poop (I have seen poop on 10 occasions!!!!, YES 10! I saw it at Poly, Contem. and GF!)

BTW, people that don't put their kids in swim diapers REALLY gripe my grits!

Oh gross Tiggersmom! Thanks alot for telling me that about the poop in the Poly pool. I have been in that pool probably 50 times and have never seen any. Here I thought I was safe sticking to the pool and avoiding the evils of the hot tubs! Ick!

any chance of finding whirlpool baths in the poly concierge?

Nope. The conciege rooms have nothing extra in them then the other rooms.

Skiwee1,
The only reason I KNOW about this poop thing is because, my 10 year old started swimming when he was 4 or 5 and we started watching real close. I will never forget when my oldest was 5 years. We were in the POR pool and he said "Mommy, look at that huge brown rock in the water!!" Well, Mommy proceeded to step on that huge brown rock, and needless to say, we watch EVERYTHING in the bottom of the pool!::yes:: Yep, Yucky, yucky poo! Now even the hottubs are yucky!:hyper:

There is so much chlorine in those hot tubs, I was lucky to make it out alive! It would take some strong cooties to live through that.

No hot tub was the main reason I chose not to stay at the Polynesian. After all that walking, I have to have a hot tub.

What did I start!!! I thought I was just asking about a hot tub. I guess I got more information than I bargained for. I won't let my kids read this or they won't go near the pools!!

Thanks for all the interesting info, I think!!!

So you think the chlorine is enough? A friend of mine went on a cruise with another couple 2 years ago. The couple spent sometime in the hot tub even though my friend, a doctor, warned them not to. Low and behold the couple got some kind of infection that caused extreme itching and painful sores. Their cruise was ruined! They couldn't even walk. And really would you want to be in a hot tub with bodily fluids from people doing things in the hot tub they shouldn't be? You can fill that tub up with chlorine and I'm still not getting in that tub with that! LOL! As my husband refers to it as "eggdrop soup"! LOL! I will stick with private hot tubs!

Skiwee: Please take this in the good humor I have ascribed. If you are at Disney, there is no escaping germs. If a person scratches their booty, then touches the rails in the queues for the rides, and then YOU touch the rail...YOU GOT BOOTY GERMS! At Disneyworld, you are going to be touching rails, rides, doors, etc. that others have touched and those people don't wash their hands!

Also, people do the nasty on top of the bedspread in the rooms (as you can plainly see in many adult videos!). Those don't get washed very often. Our local news did an expose on bodily fluids on bedspreads.

I think the hot tub is one of the least of your concerns if you are worried about germs. At least it has some chlorination going on.

I just try to wash my hands frequently and avoid putting my hands in my mouth.

By the way... last trip to Disney, I did get a touch of food poisoning/salmonella/funk! So it is impossible to avoid it!

Honestly Kirkharrod, I am not a germaphobe. Really I'm not! LOL! I do not worry myself about whether the comforters or blankets are not clean. I never think about the pool having poop in it. Well I do now! I only draw the line at hot tub usage. There are plenty of germs that can survive heat or chlorine but even that isn't what really grosses me out. It is the thought of what others may have done in that hot tub before I got in. It doesn't matter that the chorine or heat may have killed the germs. It is the idea that there is "stuff" swirling around your body that shouldn't be. Hey, my avoiding the hot tubs will leave more room for everyone else to enjoy including those couples that probably should have gotten a room! LOL!

When our middle child was 3 or 4, he became very ill while we were on vacation (not at WDW). My husband had taken all three kids in the whirlpool to warm up after swimming. None of the rest of us became ill and while talking it over with our ped. she said that while no way to tell where he picked up the bug, she really avoids public hot tubs because the warm environment is so perfect for growth of bacteria. I asked if the chlorine wouldn't kill the germs and she said even if it does, there are all the surfaces around the tub. I'm not a germophobic either but will on;y use a hot tub at home now. Even my DH who worries about NOTHING, stopped taking the kids into whirlpools....at least while I was around.:D

And I do and did know that kids can't be in them long anyway.
