Poly - Hawaii - Quiet rooms?

We will be staying in the Hawaii Longhouse with a Magic Kingdom view. I'm wondering what are the chances that we will end up with a connecting room and noise from next door, since we just need the one room. Are most of the rooms connecting, or not connecting? Is "not connecting rooms" something we can specifically request?

Also, can we make that request when we arrive since we should be getting in at a reasonable hour (hopefully by 2pm if our plane is on time) or do we need to do it in advance?

If there are specific room numbers we should look for, or avoid, please let me know!

Thanks!

We arrived at the Hawaii Building around 10:00AM. We were pleased to find out that our room was ready. First time in years, including Poly that we could get in our room early. We requested 3rd floor and it was granted. If you want a balcony, request 3rd floor. 3rd floor is top floor so no rooms above--quieter. Our room was in the middle of the hall so we had a room on either side--not connecting. The noise we noticed is when people were walking in the halls and having conversations or if TV's were a little loud. It was not enough of a problem to be intrusive. Possibly if you had only one room next to you it would be quieter. I am not sure about room numbers. IPO might be able to help.

For quiet, I would ask to be as far away from the lounge as possible and not worry so much about connecting rooms.

Thanks -- I was planning to call IPO but I thought this board might be more reliable in terms of what I should be requesting. Surely they have the job of saying that ALL their rooms are perfect!

Are there any advantages to 1st floor rooms at all? Can you walk right out onto the beach and then go for a stroll? Or does your room not lock from that direction?

There is grass, a walking path and then the beach. I stayed 3rd floor in all Poly stays, including Hawaii building so not sure what it is like on 1st floor. It does have a sliding glass door and a patio. The beach is usually quiet and peaceful in front of the Hawaii building. There is a nice bench swing to sit and relax.

Stayed 1st floor in Hawaii building two times with our family and loved it. It is so great to sit out on the patio and walk right out to one of the hammocks. I am sure 3rd floor is great too. We never found that the first floor was noisy. The only time we heard noise was when kids ran down the hall but for the most part it was very quiet.

We like the 1st floor lagoon view best, but no you can't lock your door from outside. But it's great for watching fireworks or the EWP.

Ok. I think I'll just put for 3rd floor or 1st floor, and see what I get! 3rd floor will have a balcony, 1st floor will have a patio -- either way we'll probably be happy.

Although I just thought of something: on the 1st floor, do people walk by and look in much? Privacy could be a bit of an issue....

The walkway in front of Hawaii is probably a good 25 feet from the patio (I'm a terrible judge of distances, BTW) over the lawn. So while I have heard others say they didn't want a first floor room for that reason, it was never anything I noticed on our stays there. Walking by yes, staring towards our room, never. But I wouldn't be walking nude around the room with the drapes open either! :rotfl:
