Just switched from AKL to Poly Garden View because of the code.
Never have stayed anywhere else but AKL so I'm
nervous.

Are there any great Garden View rooms I could request? I know it isn't a MK or Lagoon view but is there any chance I could see the Castle?

How easy is it to get to the monorail from the Garden View rooms?

What is the room size difference/maybe pictures compared to AKL? What building/floor should I request if I'd like a patio/balcony?

We'll have a car. How easy is it to get to MGM from the Poly?

We wouldn't need a handicaped room but how wheelchair friendly is the resort?

Right now, I have a Mother Day Dinner ressie at Boma. Should I switch it to Ohana's?

Thank you. Amy

Post this on the Poly site. There are people there that can tell you EVERYTHING you would ever want to know about Poly. :)

Samoa, third floor, volcano pool view. Great view of pool, partial lagoon and a great location! Loved this gardenview room!!

Our last visit to Ohanas was in February and it was not the best. It used to be our favorite but something has changed. I do not know if it the seasoning on the meat or what but I left with a very upset stomach. The atmosphere was great as always!

We do enjoy Ohanas for breakfast with Lilo and Stitch.

Rooms are larger than AKL. They are 400 plus square feet. Someone will come along with the correct square footage. All rooms have been renovated.

It is a lovely place to stay. Have a great time!

We stayed in Tokelau, and by looking over our balcony and to the right, we could see Cinderella Castle.

No matter where you stay, it's not that far of a walk to get to the Great Ceremonial House, where you board the monorail.

Animal Kindgom Lodge rooms are about 340 square feet. Polynesian rooms are about 410 square feet.

Getting to Hollywood Studios from the Polynesian is the same as if you took a bus from the Ticket and Transportation Center. It's about a 15-20 minute drive depending on traffic, and not difficult.

With large rooms, public spaces, hallways, zero entry pool and elevators in almost every building, it's very wheelchair friendly.

Do you like Boma? If you like Boma and will have a car, why switch? Only reason I could see for switching would be to save yourself a half hour or so getting from your room at the Polynesian to your car and then to the Animal Kingdom. Me, personally? I wouldn't switch.

Getting to the monorail depends on which building you are in. There aren't specific buildings for GV rooms. With the exception of Hawaii (club level) and Tonga (suites), there aren't buildings dedicated to any certain room view. To get from Poly to MGM you need to take a bus. If you want an MK view (castle) you would have to invest in a MK view room, GV is of the landscaping, pool, parking lot, or marina. Check out the Poly FAQ thread. It has lots of info or check out allears.net

It depends on what you'd like to see! I've been doing some research and have determined that I'd like either Fiji or Samoa, higher floor. Fiji overlooks the Marina on one side, and the luau cove/beach area/partial lagoon and GF on the other. Samoa overlooks the Volcano pool on one side and the quiet pool/courtyard on the other. Both buildings are close to everything with exception to the TTC. The best you could get with a GV room is a partial lagoon view in Rarotonga, Tokelau, Samoa, or Fiji. I know our room in Rarotonga gave us a partial view of the fireworks each night!

How easy is it to get to the monorail from the Garden View rooms?

Every building with exception of Hawaii and Tonga offers GV rooms. All rooms are within a 3min walk to the Grand Ceremonial House and keep in mind that rooms in Tahiti and Rapa Nui are actually closer to the TTC for monorail use.

What is the room size difference/maybe pictures compared to AKL? What building/floor should I request if I'd like a patio/balcony?

AKL sqft: 344
Poly sqft: 409

You'll definately notice the rooms being more spacious but might be disapointed with the layout, especially in the bathroom area. Each room has two queens and a day bed and pics can be found through the FAQ thread and wdwinfo.com

Some longhouses have second floor balconies, other's don't. All ground floor rooms and 3rd floor rooms in every longhosue have a patio or balcony. Second floor rooms without a balcony still have a sliding door, just no balcony.

You shouldn't have any issues as it's just a straight shot down World Drive but it will be slightly longer compared to AKL.

We wouldn't need a handicaped room but how wheelchair friendly is the resort?
Walkways are all wide enough and wheel chair friendly as is the beach and pool area. I "believe" every longhouse has an elevator but not %100 sure. If being close to parking and the monorail is important to you I'd request Rapa Nui for sure!

Right now, I have a Mother Day Dinner ressie at Boma. Should I switch it to Ohana's?
You'll read a lot of great things about O'hanas but I've read amazing things about Boma. When staying at the MK area resorts, we never have a problem eating at other resorts; it's so easy to hop on the monorail, ride it to the MK, catch a bus and be on our way.

BTW Niue is the only building without an elevator. It is only 2 floors, but the 2nd floor does not have balconies. It is connected to Rarotonga via a walkway on the 2nd floor, so if you needed the elevator you could use the elevator in the other building and walk through the walkway.
