Has anyone ever heard of anyone getting a room at the Poly for under $100.

I can't remember exactly what the lady told me, but I was talking to a teacher one day and she said that she and her family go to Disney World, stay at the Poly for under $100 (I can't remember the exact amount). I have a feeling she was pulling my leg.

I can't imagine how she could get the Poly for under $100. Perhaps she is confusing her resorts?? We went over Christmas on an overflow from Shades of Green and the cost was still $174 per night - that's way off the rack rate.

Did she say "Poly" or Polynesian? I bet she meant Pop or POFQ. I run into people all the time who confuse the Disney resorts.

Maybe in 1971!!! pirate: (actually I don't remember when it was built, so let's pick that year)

Well if you use creative math you could stretch it!!! Remember the deals of 5 +2 you pay for 5 nights (and I think there was a 4+3 way back before this...) and with it you got "length of stay" park hoppers... it was a "package" deal... well if you took that lump sum of hotel + park hoppers, subtract the cost of 7 day park hopper plus per guest in room, and the amount left divide that by 7 nights, and maybe then?????

Coulda been Poly for under $100... per person ;)

Probably has the resorts mixed up. I don't even think the CM rate goes that low. Under $200 is a good rate.

The other possibility, when Disney was mothballing Dixie Landings a few customers got exceptional upgrades. They got to keep their rate and go upgraded into whatever resort had availability.

I do know a couple of years ago they gave some great rates at Poly from the CBR people that they had to move to due to the refurbishment going on there. Many people did get the Poly for around $99 + tax. But to get it yearly for $99 I have not heard of that.

You were right! It opened up in late Sept early October of 1971! :cool1:

We were lucky & got the Polynesian for $99/night!! :) It was when we had ressies at CBR & it got closed for rehab - we were able to move over to Polynesian for this great rate. I'm pretty sure this was a once in a lifetime kind of rate, though. Never heard of anyone just getting this kind of rate when booking. :)

I remember some people lucking out during that rehab of the CBR and getting the Poly. When I was at the Poly in Oct 2002 I talked to a very nice couple at the pool and they were given that same upgrade. Talk about a great way to start your vacation! It was almost like getting free money, the couple told me! :cool1: LOL! You're right about it being a once in a life time rate!

We stayed in a garden view room at the Poly for $97 and $99 on our first 2 trips to WDW on AP discounts....of course that was in 1993!!!! Back when AP rates were a flat 50% of rack rate and we went in Value Season....ahhhh for the good ole days!!

On trip #3 in 1994 we got a tower room at the CR for $99/night also actually that was because we had booked Wilderness Lodge on an AP discount and it was overbooked (right after it opened) so they offered us the CR tower at the same price and then bumped us up to 14th floor concierge!! (I am still waiting for that to happen again!! How long do you think it will be before someone offers me a 14th floor room at the CR for $99/night??)

My family stayed at the CR one night in the fall of 1971 (right after the MK opened)....and we were totally awed....a tower room was an astronomical $89/night then and they were totally booked many months in advance.

Maybe your friend just hasn't been to WDW in 30 years!!!

She said Polynesian. I think she said they paid like $70 or something... it was something really outrageous. And she said she got the discount with the AP. It was also last year or the year before last.

I just saw a rate for the Polynesian for $35.95! One catch, it's the Econo Lodge Polynesian located in Kissimmee! AND - guess what? There is also a Quality Inn Polynesian hotel located right next store to the Econo Lodge Polynesian. They are located on Polynesian Isle Road. I wonder if she stayed at one of those?

Year: 1984 (summer, peak season)
Resort: Polynesian Village Resort
Cost Per Night: $100 (This was even a discounted rate for stockholders)

I can't imagine how anyone could get the Polynesian at WDW for less that $100 anytime in the past year or so (unless there were special circumstances, such as others have mentioned due to resort rehab).

I was supposed to be at CBR in 2002 too ~ when I saw a great deal for WL for $135/night including taxes, I changed my reservation. If I had only known I could've been upgraded to Poly for the CBR rate during their rehab! :headache: Oh well ~ we did love WL though! :teeth:

If it was in the last 2 years , it was off Disney property. She is probably a fisherman! You know, how many fish I caught and it was this.. BIG!!!

What about when POFQ closed and they moved people? If she had a low rate to begin with it's possible I suppose. They upgraded up for either $10 or $20 depending on our view at AKL. I could have stayed at AKL poolview for $84 per night. Sav view was $94.

Our first trip was in Jan 81. We had a lagoon view room for $ 65 per nite. The guy who assisted with our luggage told me that when they first opened they were renting rooms for $19 a nite just to try to fill the rooms

That's what I was thinking. We got bumped from POFQ a couple of years ago & got AKL Savana View for $127.00 per night after tax. I wanna go back but until I can get the same rate I'm not gonna. :guilty:
