As there been any word on whether the poly will offer fixed weeks like GFV?

Nothing will be announced until Disney meets the legal requirements for a new timeshare development and they get approved to start sales.

My guess is that they will offer fixed weeks.

It is pretty safe if it makes Disney extra $ then it will happen, especially if the members dues support the extra cost of implementation

No word but given the last 2 projects have, I think it's a safe bet. If you want a specific week and unit type I'd let your guide know so you can get it day 1 of sales else it may be gone before you can have it arranged, many of the top weeks were for VGF.

Any guesstimates on when Poly will go on sale?

Do we know how many total units it will have yet? Do you think its point matrix will be similar to VGF or higher?

Actually, even after a year's worth of sales, none of the Fixed Weeks at Villas at Grand Floridian have reached DVD's self imposed cap of 35% of accommodation by type and view. With 17 Lake View studios, one-bedrooms, and two-bedrooms each, DVD can sell 5 Fixed Week deeds for each week of the year. To date, DVD has not sold more than 4 Fixed Week deeds for any of the accommodation types for even the most popular weeks. The Grand Villas are capped at 2 Fixed Week deeds per week and, so far, no more than 1 Fixed week deed has been sold for any week.

All of the Standard View accommodation types are well below the 35% cap limit. Each accommodation type is permitted up to 10 Fixed Week deeds each week. To date, none of the Standard View accommodation types have had more than 4 Fixed Week deeds sold for any week.

Even though VGF Fixed Week sales have not capped out, it doesn't mean that all of those weeks are still available. Its possible DVD has arbitrarily decided to limit sales well below the 35% cap. I also think that when sales for VGF first started in May 2013, some people expressed interest in buying a Fixed Week and DVD held that week for them while the buyers made up their mind, making it unavailable for buyers who came later. Then, the buyers backed out of the deal, freeing up the week that was being held.

I recommend that if anyone wants to buy a Fixed Week at the Poly, they should buy it soon after sales commence. Once DVC members start booking stays at the resort, it becomes increasingly harder for DVD to sell a Fixed Week. For example, if today someone wanted to buy a VGF Fixed Week for the first week in December, DVD might not be able to complete the deal despite having a Fixed Week deed available. Even though the deed might be available, there may not be any nights available for that week. The buyer would have to understand that they could not use their Fixed Week until 2015 at the earliest. And, based on the wording of the Fixed Week deeds, I'm not sure that DVD would sell a deed if it could not fulfill the full terms of the agreement.

I have actually wondered about this possibility. If you tried to buy week 49 or 50 now, would you automatically opt out and use the points for another trip within the year? Would you have to wait until after the week has passed to purchase?

I doubt DVC would want to pass on a sale, but how could they sell a week that was unavailable for current use?

Still many have been turned away looking to buy specific fixed weeks as early as the first couple of days. I know you follow this, has anyone been able to later buy the fixed week that was initially not available? My warning still stands, if you want a specific fixed week option, be prepared and ready to move day 1 with advanced planning for payment and have things worked out with the guide.

For some reason DVD doesn't seem to be pushing fixed week sales even though it increases their point sales. Our Guide didn't know much about it when we bought and had to contact someone at Disney for information.

I had a similar experience. My guide said that I was his first fixed-week contract. When VGF sales began for members, we had several phone exchanges; I would ask questions and he would call back with answers. Honestly, I believe I knew more about the fixed-week because of my understanding of the Aulani discussion threads.

Anyone want to guess when they will start selling? I heard this fall and I also heard next spring.

Also, am curious what folks think the point chart will look like. I was thinking it would be similar to CRO for the resorts where GF is most expensive, then Poly and then CR...so I would think points will be between VGF and BLT, no???? Though the Poly studios will be larger than the VGF and BLT studios I believe...and may have stuff other studios do not (washer/dryer???). I am thinking we'd like points for 4-5 weeknights in a studio in Sept or Jan...I wonder how many points we'll need.

Oh, and will there be different views like VGF and BLT (I don't know much about Poly aside from Ohana)?

I would suspect three categories: standard, garden and lagoon.

The south side of Rapa Nui faces the parking lot while the north side of Tahiti faces Seven Seas Lagoon and Magic Kingdom.

Perhaps they made a mistake in the pricing and actually meant it to be a premium price per point - like Aulani - instead of requiring more points for a certain week but giving you the full amount of points if you don't keep the fixed week. I never understood what they were doing at VGF - more money in charging the premium price per point like Aulani.
