Poly Envelope-- Just one?

Went to Walmart today and got everything on my boys' school supply list EXCEPT:
1 ENVELOPE-Poly, letter size with velcro closure
and
1 ENVELOPE-Poly, legal size with string closure CLEAR

I looked online when I got home, and it seems that places like Staples and Office Max (at least online) sell them in 5 or 10 packs. Is there somewhere I can get just one of each of these??! I was pretty impressed with myself for scoring everything else today, and for less than half of what the PTO charges . Now if I can just get these Poly Envelopes bought. . . --Katie

I would try one of the office supply stores but I think you are probably going to find that those envelopes are sold in packs.

I went back-to-school shopping today too and I had to buy a few things in packs bigger than I wanted. For example, the school wanted 25 clear page protectors- the store sold them in packs of 10 or 50 but it was cheaper to buy the 50 pack than it was to buy 3 of the 10 packs. I also had to buy golf pencils and the only size box I could find of those has 144 pencils in it.

One of the things on the list I simply couldn't find at all in the stores and had to order online- fruit scented dry erase markers. Fruit scented??? Low odor was easy to find but the list specifically stated that the school did not want low odor, only fruit scented. I have to admit I rolled my eyes a bit at that today.

These back-to-school lists are a little out of hand in my opinion!

I'm pretty sure walgreens sells them separately.

If you can't any place that sells them individually, see if a few other parents want to split the cost of a pack with you! I'm sure everyone is running across the same problem.

Fruit scented??!!! I was a little peeved by the Dixon #2 Ticonderoga pencil request. I can go with wanting Crayola brand crayons, after all, they do really work better, and I'm even OK with buying Crayola washable markers, Elmer's glue, Kleenex brand tissues, and Fisker's scissors, but does my kindergartner really need Ticonderoga pencils??!!! They were $4 for a 24 pack at Walmart today . Of course, my second grader needed 36, and my kindergartner needed 12-- Did I buy two boxes and take 12 out of one of the boxes for my kindergartner???! You bet I did !!

Good idea-- I also seem to vaguely remember the PTO selling them last year at meet the teacher night. Maybe I'll post on Facebook and see if anyone remembers that. Thanks for the help, guys. --Katie

I've seen these in CVS or Walgreens, also Publix our grocery store.

they sell them at Dollar Tree here as well. I don't know if that's an option for you, though.

Having a senior next year we got through all the supply lists by sending what we could find and if they didn't like it too bad. Never got a complaint. If the folders don't have velcro who cares. If the pencils are not the exact brand too bad. Oh and as for wet wipes, sanatizing gel, and baggies our schools had an over abundance of those things stocked up year to year so it was not a big deal if someone didn't send them in. A teacher once told me they had to put them on the list even if they had too many from the year before.

With pencils...you get what you pay for. DD is just starting off college with 96 - Ticonderoga pencils. (Santa dropped off a huge pack of Breast Cancer Awareness as a stocking stuffer last year).

There is a difference. They sharpen better, the leads aren't broke before you even get started. The erasers don't gum up right away!

I even go for the pre-sharpened pencils when DD has "big tests" i.e. AP, ACT etc. No need to worry about having a pencil crisis during the test.

You're right. There is definitely a difference in pencils.

I don't get the need for fruit scented markers though. Anybody have any ideas?
