Poly DVC - what UYs loaded with 2014 points?

This is not correct. My 2014 points are already loaded (as well as my 2015 points) and ready to use.

. . . .For reservations effective April 1, 2015 or later. You cannot use PVB points for any reservation date before the resort opens as the points do not "exist" before that date.

I suspect you would have a problem if you tried to use those points to book a stay with a check-in date prior to the occupancy date of the PVB Unit to which they are tied. You should be able to book a stay that begins on/after your occupancy date but not before, because until your Unit is open you don't have a Unit to trade in exchange for the one you want to book.

Yes my UY is june.
When I spoke to my guides (we all know how reliable they can be) I told them that I intended to use the points immediately for a feb 14th stay, two different guides indicated that would not be a problem. Unfortunately by the time the points got loaded the room (at CGV) was gone so I couldn't test your theory. When I look at my points on the member site the home resort is listed as "null".

I have two use years. I can combine them in that I reserve say 2 nights with one membership and reserve the other 5 nights with the second membership. Then I ask member services to link the reservations. I do that all of the time. I have even linked nights with my membership with nights booked by my sister with hers (we will share points for a grand villa with our kids.) So, it can be done, with minimal hassle. The only time it's a problem is when you don't have a full night's points in one of the memberships.

Thanks - did you ever try to trade out for a cruise or RCI using points from multiple use years? Not sure if we would, but good to be educated first...

No, sorry, I've never done either of those. I don't know if those are possible. Call member services and ask.

Historically all of the points had to be in a single master account to use for a cash type exchange such as DCL. However, DVC is pretty good at making things happen including transferring even banked/borrowed points to do this type of exchange.

To test if the the points could be used before the opening I attempted to do so with a OKW stay on Mar 9 and after talking with MS, --Denise's information is correct, while the points are loaded they are not available for use before the resort is opened. Sorry :worship: for any confusion I may have caused.

I too have been debating a different UY. When I asked MS about RCI deposits she told me you had an option to transfer points so they're all coming from one contract and then deposit into RCI (under normal transfer rules) or you can put them into RCI from each contract, but the minimum deposit is 80 points. So I couldn't do say 40 pts from one contract and 110 from another. So it might be a little more complicated to manage.

THANK YOU!! I didn't realize this could be done. In April I have a one night ressie in one membership, and a ressie for the following four in another. I was going to check out and check back in on day two lol.

So if you purchase an add on at poly and your use year is June you will get points from 2014 use year this is 100% confirmed?

Yes, it is. June and later UYs get 2014 UY points.

in this example you'd have to check in again for the linked reservation. You can also transfer points to use them together as one and in some cases DVC will allow you to transfer banked/borrowed points. Usually that's done such as needed on a case by case basis to complete points for that last single night.

Sorry to be stupid here but why would a May UY not give you 2014 points when buying at the Poly? Why from only June onward for a April opening?

So I just talked to a guide that could actually discuss Poly, as my CA guide still can't. They told me that while I can get a second use year if I want, the earliest they will "roll back to" and give 2014 pts for a NEW use year under the member deal is an August UY. I'm sure that if you have an existing June UY you are fine, but did anyone looking to add a new UY get told August is the earliest? Seems kind of random to not allow June.

Which is, if I remember correctly (because it was the ONE thing I mis-heard at our presentation but thankfully DH heard it correctly), the same situation with Bay Lake. Couldn't use the points before it opened.

It may not be that random that DVC is limiting how far back it will go on new master contracts. Since PVB is not opening until April 1, 2015, there is only three-fourths of the year available for bookings in 2015. DVD can't give almost two years' worth of points to everyone if it doesn't have the capacity to absorb the points in the system. It might have determined it could give June 2014 points to existing members, which should be a small number of recipients, but that it has to be more restrictive when it starts selling to the much larger group of new buyers.

For quite some time now, DVD has generally offered about six months of backdating to new buyers. For example, most people who bought VGF in late December and early January are being offered the August 2014 UY. In a few weeks I expect new buyers will be offered October 2014 UY or maybe even December 2014 UY.
