I was out all day and not able to attempt making a Poly reservation until now. I looked online and both standard and lake view are available for the two nights we're considering (first five nights at VGF lake, last 2 are VGF studio...waitlist to stay in same room hasn't come through, even with DVCers possibly trying to move to Poly today so we figure maybe we'll try Poly since we have to move rooms anyway). I can't believe it's still available!

So...now to decide standard vs lake view. Is standard view by the DVC buildings the parking lot and quiet pool? Which view would you recommend? Would lake be a better choice in case the quiet pool construction starts in May?

We chose Lake view for the following reasons:
1- Standard view could be parking lot
2- Strictly my opinion I believe construction at quiet pool and other DVC long house would have least impact on Lake view.
3- As long as Lava pool is completed I can walk from GCH past pool to lake side to get to my studio and avoid walking past construction of quiet pool area

I would take any view to be able to stay at the WDW Polynesian !
Aloha !

I was wondering the same thing. There is a big difference between what used to be a standard view (parking lot) and a Garden View, which we always had and enjoyed. It seems that the days of a Garden View are gone. As much as I love staying there, I don't think I'd enjoy the parking lot very much so we always paid more for Garden View.

We decided to book lake view this year. In the future, when the resort is sold out, we think lake view will be harder to book. When it is sold out, it will be 20% lake and 80% standard.

I went with lake view too- only staying for one night and it was 4 pts more- I just hope the view isnt too obstructed by the bungalows

Going by what buildings are studios won't a standard view be garden? The Tahiti rooms that don't face water have to be standard. That is an old garden view

Plus tokaloau runs perpendicular to water so wouldn't they be standard also? Tahiti would block the water from their view

Rapa Nui has the only rooms that face parkng lot on one side of building

Of course saying that that is what I will get in April!! Lol

Any view is fine with me to be able to stay at the Poly !
We sleep and eat in the room - who cares what the view is!

it's only one night so I took the standard. Tikiman's site may be a good source of information about what building to request, if desired. But if it faced a parking lot that won't bother me. I'll be at Trader Sam's anyway.
