DH agreed last night for me to book 7 nights at the Poly Concierge class. Before this we are staying at AKL (not concierge) for 14 nights.

Our main reason for booking the concierge at the Poly, was to allow DH and myself to use the lounge when the children are asleep (they will be 5 and 3). Im not entirely sure if I am happy with leaving them alone in the room (if need be we will simply take turns to use the lounge) but if our room was REALLY close to the lounge, then maybe we could both go, even for just a short time, to watch Wishes for example.

So, my question is...how far are the nearest rooms to the lounge, can I request one of these and would anyone know the perfect room numbers for me to ask for?? Has anyone done this and left the kids asleep in the room? Can you hire baby monitors or pagers from the resort?

Thanks

Allie

The rooms closest to the lounge would be on the second floor with the lowest numbers 2501-2506 or so. These will be a 5-10 second jog from the doors to the lounge. I would point out that the Lounge has double doors that stay closed and it is really not possible to see the doors to the rooms from the lounge.

I would take turns with children that small. If it is really important to watch wishes book lagoon view and request 1st floor. You can pick up treats from the lounge and sit on your patio to watch the show.

I would shoot for room 3501 which is right next to the lounge but up a floor. You could bring your food and drink back to you room and enjoy everything from your 3rd floor balcony.

Leaving a 3 and 5 yr old alone in a room sounds like a REALLY bad idea, imo.

You could take a baby monitor with you - that way you could hear them if they woke up.

::yes:: ITA! I have a 3 yr old and a 5 yr old and no way would I leave them in the room alone. Dh I would take turns going to the lounge when we have stayed concierge at any of the resorts.

If I cant see the doors to the rooms from the lounge then I wouldnt leave them...I was trying to get a feel of how it was laid out and if a baby listener was an option. Wouldnt consider it if the lounge was either very closed off or too far away from the rooms. It sounds like we will be taking it in turns!

I love the idea of a balcony and bringing the nibbles back, that would be perfect!

The idea of a baby monitor is a good one, but I just don't think it would work well at the Poly, for reasons of the way it's constructed, with those separate steel containers that make up the rooms. The Poly was actually constructed much like a cruise ship, with individual steel containers lifted into place by cranes. I'm just not sure a baby monitor signal would travel well beyond the walls of the room. A cell phone barely works in those rooms, unless you're near the balcony/patio area.

I'm assuming you wouldn't leave your kids in your room for very long, but you may just have to live with separate trips to the lounge if they're in the room, or family trips to it.

Thanks everyone!

Interesting info about the construction of the Poly, John. DH was fascinated!
