Poly Concierge question

We are planing on taking our kids for the first time next year. I plan on staying poly concierge lagoon view so my DD can have a great view of Cindy's castle (and because let's face it mommy loves concierge). My parents are chattering about coming down for a few days to "see" the kids expierence the magic. Anyway, we think this is a great idea cause DH would love to avail himself of the golf courses and grandpa would would be up for that. However, they will probably not want to go concierge. My question (yes I really have one) is whether they would be allowed into the lounge area. I don't care if we would have to pay for drinks or whatever if they have them but just to come in to maybe watch the fireworks. Is that even possible. If not it will be good to know in advance and we will keep to our patio or the beach. Thanks all concierge guests in the know.

I would call the concierge and ask. I would think personally that if you weren't staying concierge, then you wouldn't be able to use the facilities.

I suspect that it is frowned upon. Not that you would, but somebody might take advantage, then others.

I would definetly ask them. I don't think you could have them every day in the lounge with you, but maybe once or twice. Good luck with it. :flower:

The CMs desks at the Poly concierge are right at the entrance. After 2 days they are very good at knowing who belongs and who doesn't. Especially when they see you at check in at not your parents. I don't think it would be wise to have other guests use the lounge. I wouldn't be surprised if they said something to you in a very polite, discrete way.

If a "great view of the castle" is what you are looking for, the Cont. tower has a much better view that the Poly conc. I know, I have stayed at both and there is no comparison to the view from the Cont. Tower.

Not sure what the rules are but I would have to say that it shouldn't be allowed. When you stay concierge you pay the extra $$$ for the lounge privelege and if everyone - or even half the concierge guests brought in extra people then the lounge would be real crowded. Same goes for pools, but that is another hot topic. :)

Your best bet would be to have a 1st floor room with a patio and a view of the fireworks and then your folks could sit there and watch. The view is much better there anyhow....

I have to disagree. I've also stayed both, and the Polynesian view is straight on whle the CR has an angled view.

While we really enjoyed the 14th floor concierge at the CR, we prefer the rooms at the PR LV concierge.

To the OP, I'm actually thinking I've rad paperwork stating that the lounge is for registered CL guests use only (I could be thinking of a diferent hotel though...). If you've got a LV room, I'm not sure why you'd need to use the lounge to watch the fireworks when you can watch them from your balcony or patio. You may have guests in your room, which in this case seems the more appropriate thing to do.

If you wanted to provide refreshments they could always be ordered through room service.

Thanks to all. I think we will take the advice of Jill and have them join us in our room (hopefully on the patio - hoping for a 1st floor room). Also to the CR lovers. I agree the view is much closer from the CR but we have our heart set on poly for other reasons beyond the view. My DH and i were just at Disney for our Anniversary and had a romantic evening lying in the hamock just watching people pass by. That and Ohana's went out of their way to make us feel special sitting us right at the window for a great meal and a great view. I appreciate all advice though.

Sounds like you already have 4 in your room, but how old are your children? If one is under the age of 3, then I believe you could add your parents name to your reservation (making a total of 5 in the room) and just pay the $25 per person fee for each additional adult. They would then have access to the concierge lounge even if they were staying in another room.

Yes the sign outside Hawaii longhouse states that the building and services are for guests staying in Hawaii longhouse and Tonga Longhouse only. People have snuck in or have been let in before and the conceirge is not to happy if and when they find out. The lounge can get crowded also so I would think it would be unfair to guests staying there but you would not know unless you asked so it was a good question.

Most of the time the conceirge downstairs knows who you are and who is in your party so if they see you walk in one day with two new people they may know right away since you have to walk past them to get to the lounge.

Aloha

We stayed Poly concierge last summer. It was nice but I wouldn't pay those prices again. The grounds are gorgeous, but a lagoon view room would give you all you need at the Poly. Espcially since you can go down to the beach and sit in a hammock or loung chair and watch wishes... IMHO
