Poly concierge question

Ok, we changed our ressies to concierge. Now I am wondering if it would be better to request (I know it isn't guaranteed) a first floor patio room or a third floor balcony. We have three children (12,5,2) and I am wondering what the pros and cons of each are. Thanks!!

During one of our stays, we had a Lagoon View Concierge.---first floor. Typically I would have wanted to be on the third floor with the balcony, but I really enjoyed being on the first floor with the patio. Just beyond our patio were the chair swings, the beach and the breathtaking view of the castle. It was wonderful to walk right outside of the room be able to enjoy the different activities. It was especially nice at night. Very romantic. I would request first floor if I ever do lagoon view again.

Can you walk out you're patio door and lock it? Also, are the conceirge lounge areas easy to access from the first floor? Thanks for the help!!

You can walk out the patio door but you can't lock it -

The concierge lounge is on the second and third (seating only) floor of the building along one end.

Honestly I find it easy to access from even the furthest point.

Thanks! So is there any benefit to being on the second or third floor as opposed to the patio?

The second floor has a great advantage in that is on the same floor as the lounge. You don't have to walk up or down stairs (or use the elevator) to access it. 2 years ago we stayed on the 2nd floor, lagoon view. I had requested first floor but the only first floor room available had a terrible view of the castle so I asked to be moved. At first I was bummed out that we would be on the 2nd floor. However, we had a fantastic castle view and the convenience of being on the same floor as the lounge more than made up for the lack of a balcony. I still can't figure out, however, what the designers of the Polynesian were thinking when they decided to exclude balconies on the 2nd floor of each longhouse! We were in room 2507 and loved it. The advantage to the 3rd floor would be, in my opinion, better overall views due to the higher elevation and of course the balconies.

Our room was on the lst floor, you can look up my review. Our view was of a tree trunk, I am wondering if minkydog also had this same room. It was 2 rooms away from the exit of the longhouse, the farthest walk from the lounge. If you want to bring food back to your room to eat instead of the lounge this is a very inconvenient location. We had our teens get the food most of the time. Our patio door also would not lock, the maintenance people took care of it. Its just a though but if you need to use the elevator to go to your room it could get a little busy when people are also going up to the lounge, but we usually didnt encounter that problem being on the lst floor.

I agree about being on the far end of the longhouse. We were in the 2nd to last room on 1st floor last year and I really did not like it. My wife liked the fact that we could walk right out onto the beach, though. However, I really hated being that far from the lounge. It was a long walk to the room, especially with several extremely cold sodas in your hand! I really preferred being closer to the lounge. One other thing I noticed about being on the far end of Hawaii was that you really don't feel like you are right on the beach. Once you get about 2/3rd's down the longhouse you have a lot of grass in front of you instead of beach. Check out the overhead view on tikiman's site to see what I mean by this.

I guess I was lucky in getting the room assignment that we got. Sorry that I don't remember the room number. Think it was about 5 rooms down on the left (first floor). It had a unobstructed view of the castle. You might go to tikiman's website and be able to find the number.

Are all of the rooms on the second floor without a balcony? Geeze, I don't know what to do. I have a garden view. Maybe I should just make no requests and leave it to chance. LOL

We usually have LV but did GV in December and left it to chance - we ended up with a room we loved on the third floor...and actually in a funny turn of events it was the same room friends we had travelled with over the summer had so we were all ready familiar with the room!

You reminded me that my only request for our LVC was for non-smoking. We could not have choosen a better room with a view. Sometimes I wonder if no requests work to your advantage.
