I'm about to book the Polynesian Concierge:bounce: and have been reading up on it. Since there are no balconies on the second floor and the first and second floor are the designated non-smoking floors, I'm assuming that there is no such thing as a concierge non-smoking, balcony room that is above ground level. Is this correct??

Anyone stay on the third floor concierge lately that can tell me if the smell is too bad to tolerate?

Anyone stay on the first floor with lagoon view that can tell me how good the view was without being up higher?

THANKS!

Well it would depend on when you are going. This summer the concierge at the Poly will be in Tahiti, the top two floors of tahiti have balconies. Refurb of Hawaii should be done in mid Oct. this yr. As for the smoking rooms in Tahiti for concierge no one seems to be 100% sure where they will be yet. You could call concierge and ask. But if you are staying anytime between now and Oct you should have a pretty good chance of getting balcony/non smoking.

Well your view of the castle will not change from 1st to 3rd floor since your angle on something a mile away does not change with an increase in height of 22 feet so the only difference in view is how much beach you see. Below are two photos from the same spot of the Hawaii longhouse but one is from our 1st floor room and the other is from our friends 3rd floor room.

Here is a link to the full view from our first floor room.

You know after seeing these two pics I think I like the first floor view better. looking right onto the beach instead of down at it and the palm trees being right by the balcony. Ah I can just smell that WDW air!
Too bad I have this phobia about 1st fl rooms.
That is a nice view though! Thanks Tikiman for posting that being I will NEVER see it from my room LOL!

I was just curious about your phobia? Is it that your room could be easily accessed? I know that when I stay at a hotel when I travel for work, we are not to be put on the first floor.

Yes that is it Nysie. I know Disney is a safe place but the fear is not rational that is why it is a phobia. Also reading on these boards the past few yrs (off and on) hasn't helped , about animals getting into some of the ground floor rooms. I would surely have nightmares if I did get to sleep in a 1st fl room of gators under my bed or something. LOL

Maybe that is why there is no under the bed at the Polynesian. The bed base goes right to the floor.

I am going to show this thread to my DH when he gets home. We have been married for almost 12 years(this August) and I drive him crazy with my first floor phobia. Don't really know where it started but I am already stressed about being on a first floor room at the Poly. It is nice to see that I am not the only one who worries about the first floor issue:)

Thanks!!

PLEEEEASE... I don't need any phobias to boot!! LOL

The Hawaii refurbishment brings up another question from me. We're shooting for late August. Do you think it will be a "real" concierge experience for us while it is in the temporary facilities? Anyone have any info on this? Like, how is the lounge set-up and can you view the fireworks like in Hawaii?

Here's where I'm coming from ...
Have a 7 year old princess that would be beside herself to be able to see the castle change colors right from her window. Next time we do this, she'll probably be out of this phase. Will we even be able to have this view from Tahiti?
Our other child is 4 - so between them, they don't eat a lot. Therefore, we don't stand to save a whole lot in food costs, but I'm sure we'll save some.
And finally ... it's our first time to book concierge. If it's not fabulous, I'm thinking that we'll be soured on spending the extra cash for it the next time the opportunity arises.

Any thoughts or info?

Thanks.
