There's been much written about how great Poly. concierge is, but each time I read of a new change there, it makes me less thrilled.

If you have recently returned from Poly. concierge, would LOVE to read what was offered for breakfast. I've read Tikiman's site, but I'm looking for more recent experiences. I'm a big oatmeal and fruit and wheat toast eater -- no coffee, no danish, no sugared cereals -- so when I read that they've bagged the oatmeal now (and fruit is more $$ than coffee cake, so I'm thinking that's going next), I'm concerned.

Thank You for the good, the bad, and the honest!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc

We were there from Oct 4th thru the 11th. They had instant oatmeal; assorted cut-up fruit; apples, oranges, & bananas; muffins, danish, pineapple bread, bagels, english muffins, cereal, granola. I'm probably missing something, but I'm pretty sure there was no wheat toast. They'd more than likely give it to you if you ask, though.

Just back the 29th-31st of October.

In addition to the above mentioned there was a lot of fruit and I also saw yogurt.

Thanksfor the speedy replies.

We're going during Easter Break so one of the reasons we booked concierge was to be able to get a healthy breakfast in and then run to the parks. Us is husband, me, and 7-year old twins.

Think the Poly. basic restaurant (not character) would have better food options AND allow us to get out at a reasonable time?

I'm actually hoping that I made the right choice with concierge.

Traveliz and tatin -- Thanks for speedy replies. Are you glad you stayed concierge or not? Did you ever check out the other snack stuff during the day/evening?

THANKS AND KEEP 'EM COMING!
::yes::

We stayed at the Poly Concierge in August! It was the first time doing concierge...and we were sooo happy we spent the extra money! The breakfasts were just enough to start our day! At lunch time, they had gummies, M & Ms, cookies, PBJ sandwiches and a lot of fruit! At dinner, they had 3 or 4 hot items in chafing dishes(ribs, wings etc.). Then later in the evening, trays and trays of pastries were displayed! DH would drink a beer or 2, and I would have a Baileys & Kahlua! The kids especially liked the convenient access to those great chocolate chip cookies! If money is not an issue...then GO FOR IT! The convenience of having food nearby made it well worth it!

The prepared oatmeal is, indeed, gone, but you can request instant at the counter. I was able to make do with yogurt and granola, peanut butter and fruit as I don't care for the sweetened instant oatmeal. As for breakfast at Kona, this would probably slow you down more than you want. Captain Cook's has breakfast items as well, but all I've ever bought from there at breakfast time is a hard-boiled egg to supplement the CL offerings. I would have a light bite in the concierge lounge to tide me over, head for a park, and get something more substantial if needed after hitting a few attractions. All the parks have somewhere to get breakfast on the run if you don't need a big sit-down meal.

Thank You!

Even though I asked for the good and the bad, was hoping for good/very good!

Really appreciate you all taking the time to respond, and we're going to stick with Poly. Concierge.

Originally, we had a reg. LV room, & when we got there I asked if they had anything GVC. They did & we took it. The difference in price was 10.00/night. It was worth it to give up the view for concierge because we didn't spend that much time in the room, anyway.

We were very glad to be able to rely on the lounge. We have 3 DDs, ages 13,11, & 2, & we would have spent a fortune on breakfast, sodas, & snacks. There are days when my 2 yr old will eat nothing but PB&j (stubborn little thing princess: ), & it was really nice to be able to run up to that lounge & get whatever. The midday offering is mostly geared towards kids, but almost everyone's in the parks anyway. We were there for a few of the evening services, & they had some great appetizers, veggies, & the desserts are really good. The CMs at the desk were very helpful the few times that we needed tickets or PS, or just incidental needs. If I can ever save up the money again, I'm going back to Poly Concierge::yes::

When did they get rid of the pot of oatmeal? It was there in August?

Steve, It was available during our Aug. trip as well, but it was gone for our October trip. Ivette said it's been discontinued at all CLs, but instant packets are available at the counter.

Thanks for letting me know. The resort managment (for all the resorts) seems to keep changing things in the concierge lounges. They better start adding things to keep up with what they take away. I understand the resons behind the water bottles but I don't get this one. It was bad enough they got rid of my papayas from the fruit. I could only find them over in the Tonga lounge area.

Thanks again.

Aloha

Steve

We visited the Poly GVC 9/30 - 10/3. There was plenty of fresh made oatmeal in the warming container everyday. I ate and enjoyed it every morning. I wonder why they discontinued the oatmeal since I noticed later in the morning the pot was nearly empty?. That is too bad. I hope they bring it back.

Bottled water? They got rid of the bottled water at the poly concierge lounge?? I hope I misunderstood! That seems like a silly thing to get rid of - it is so cheap to buy in gross!

That is one of the only ways I get my kids to drink water - bottled water! Say it isn't so!

They still have bottled water in large glass bottles, just not the individual plastic bottles you can take with. We just buy a couple of cases of Dasani at Target on OBT or at the Hess mart and keep several in the mini-fridge at all times.

Polyherewecome-I don't think you'ld regret concierge stay with your kids. We loved the convenience of the lounge with our 5, 3 and 21 month old. It is so great to be able to have 1 adult take the kids to the lounge while the other gets ready. The convenience of milk, juice, cookies, PB&J's, and fruit is wonderful. And my kids were much better behaved in the relaxed atmosphere of the lounge then they were at sit-down places. I think we may have saved money in the long run but even if we didn't the extra cost is well worth the convenience-gives you more stress free time in the parks.

Tatin,

So, you were able to upgrade to concierge for only $10 extra per night? When was this? Were you in a standard garden view before?

For those of you with grand experience with concierge, we'll be staying 2 nights next sept. We haven't booked yet, but plan to soon. If we book the cheapest room category, what are our chances of a "cheap" upgrade to concierge upon arrival?

As for the bottled water....why no plastic bottles? Why glass? Makes no sense to me. I thought lots of people took water/juice, whatever with them in collapsible coolers to the parks, and a glass bottle sure is a lot less safer than plastic. Are they hoping to cut down on these types of requests?

vossjemi,

Our original booking was a standard Lagoon view, so we gave up the view & got Garden view concierge for another $10.00/night. We were there from Oct 4-11th.:)

You guys are so great!!

Tikiman/Steve -- It's an honor to chat with you, as well as everyone else. I appreciate all the work you've put into your site. Perhaps a little Tikiman fairy could whisper some "please bring back the reg'l oatmeal, it'll make us so happy" feedback to Poly.concierge. We all know you are THE MAN there. Or please steer me in the right direction and I'll at least let them know.

Unfortunately, though, if it's an across-the-board Disney management decision, I fear it's gone without even a word from the customer.

Jillhou,

Don’t blame the Polynesian for the small plastic water bottles being gone. The first people to blame are the guests that were taking many back to the room and never even using them. The housekeepers were finding multiple bottles unused in the rooms at checkout. The Polynesian told me there were multiple cases of water a day wasted by people stashing them in the room and not using them so resort management (for all the resorts not just Polynesian management) decided to eliminate the small bottles and only offer the larger glass bottles which they keep a few out but you have to ask for one to take with you.

PolyHereWeCome,

Thanks for the kind words but I am not the only person who knows the Polynesian here or who can affect a change. We all can do our part to let them know if we think a change is bad. There are still many great things about the concierge and I am sure you will have a great time.

Aloha

Steve
