Hi,just tried to add an extra night to my 3 night poly lv reserv. for the beginning of december, but was told everything was booked! :sad1: The only resorts that had rooms are YC,BW,and AKL so decided to go with AKL savannah view for the 1 extra night. Anyway, can anyone recommend your favorite savannah view as well as tell me other things you love about AKL. I'm kind of disappointed to have to switch resorts, but happy to have another night in Disney! :flower: And the pics of AKL look beautiful! thanks in advance.

Arusha Rock view is nice on the Zebra trail. Also Arush Rock view on the Kudo Trail is nice, too. Keep in mind that once you get out towards the end of the trail it can be a walk to the lobby and other things at the resort. The Zebra Trail side is closest to the pool, bus stop, restasurants.

If you have kids, the activities they have for them are wonderful. They are done by individuals from Africa who are working at the hotel. Our DS learned lots and had fun, at the same time.

Be sure to check out the night goggle vision activity at Arusha Rock in the evening. It is fun to look at animals in that way. Also, Boma's is a wonderful restaurant with great food, if you like something different. We hear Jikos is good, too, but we have never been.

I agree with cjsmom5 to request the Zebra trail and to try out the night vision goggles. We also enjoyed the nightly story telling around the firepit. My favorite thing is simply to get up in the morning and watch the animals from the balcony.
Boma is wonderful both for breakfast and dinner.
Be aware that the standard rooms at AKL are quite a bit smaller than at the Polynesian. If this would be an issue for you, you could request a Deluxe Savannah room for about the same price as a Polynesian LV room.
As you may know, they also offer an option for bunk beds if this is something that would work for you (not sure of the ages of your children).
Have a wonderful trip!

Just as an FYI ... I am hearing that the first two weeks in December are pretty much booked. It seems the "secret" has gotten out about that being a slow time of the year. That is probably why the Polynesian is showing booked.

Keep in mind though, that at 45 days out you might be able to get into the Polynesian since that is the cut off date for cancellations for packages (I think). The other one is five days out for rooms only ressies. If you really want to be at the Poly I would keep calling back. The occupancy will change during the next 90 days or so.

Thanks all for the replies, suggestions, and the advice about the cancellations, I'll definitely keep trying to see if anything opens up at the poly. If not, AKL sounds pretty good too! My girls (6 and 4)would love the bunkbeds!
We went the 1st week of Dec. 3 yrs ago, and it was SUCH a great time to go, beautiful decorations, no crowds! Doesn't sound like it's going to be the same this year if everything is booking up already, but I'm sure we'll still have a great time, crowds and all! :sunny:
